But two massive updates in the Google Business Profile API suggest a fundamental shift in how Google manages the conversation between brands and customers. Our technical team just caught a "double scoop" in the latest release. Here is what’s changing, and what is coming soon to the GMBapi.com dashboard: 1. Review Replies: For years, your reply was live the second you hit send. No longer. Google has introduced ReviewReplyState, meaning every reply is now moderated: PENDING: Google is screening your content. REJECTED: Google has blocked your reply. APPROVED: You’re cleared for public view. We just saw this in action. A brand sent a perfectly professional Dutch reply: "Beste Dick, wat fijn om te horen..." The result? Rejected. Google’s automated profanity filter flagged the reviewer’s legal name. Without API visibility, you’d never even know it happened. (Sorry, Dick, Google’s AI hasn't quite mastered the nuances of Dutch names yet 😉). 2. Review Media: As of April 20th, customer-uploaded images are finally accessible via the API.
