As we mark GCP10, we’re reflecting on what has made real progress possible: a shared commitment to align – not just in ambition, but in action. Scaling sustainability doesn’t happen in isolation, it happens when: ✔ Systems speak the same language ✔ Efforts reinforce rather than duplicate ✔ Responsibility is shared across the value chain Over the past decade, GCP and its members have helped build the foundations that reduce fragmentation and create a common direction for the sector. 🏃➡️ But this is only the beginning. If we want to achieve sustainability at scale, alignment must continue to deepen across regions, organizations, and roles. Stronger alignment → stronger foundations → greater scale. 🌱 #GCP10 #SustainableCoffee #CollectiveAction #SharedResponsibility

Coffee sustainability is a shared responsibility
About us
The Global Coffee Platform believes that sustainability is a shared responsibility. GCP focuses its entire attention on enabling all its members (producers, international roasters, governments, traders, donors, and NGOs) to align and multiply their efforts and investments, collectively act on local priorities and critical issues, and scale successful sustainability initiatives across the sector. As a result, GCP Members can tackle the biggest issues relevant to their business, share the costs, make smarter investments, and achieve greater impact on farmer livelihoods.

Alignment is the starting point for impact 🤝 Shared systems reduce fragmentation across the coffee sector – and that’s exactly what we’ve been building together over the past ten years. Through GCP, members and partners have come together around common frameworks, shared language, and aligned approaches. These foundations make it possible to scale what works — across origins, markets, and the entire value chain. ✔️ Ten years of unprecedented collective alignment ✔️ Shared responsibility across the sector ✔️ Foundations that set the stage for scale Because real progress at scale begins with alignment. Foundations first. Now we scale what works. 🌱 #GCP10 #SustainableCoffee #CollectiveAction #CoffeeSector #Alignment

“𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲.”⭐ These were the words of GCP Board Chair Adriana Mejía Cuartas in a recent interview with Comunicaffè International, where she spoke about the future of coffee, the need for transformation across the value chain, and the urgency of collective action at scale. As Adriana puts it, no single actor can transform the sector alone – just like no single bean makes a great cup of coffee. 👉 The real challenge? It’s not technical; it’s adaptive. Her key reflections: 🌳 Farmer prosperity is the proof of sustainability – not just an outcome 🤝 Shared responsibility is essential – risk cannot sit with farmers alone 🪙 Investment in climate resilience is critical to secure future supply At GCP, this is exactly what we are working towards: bringing together stakeholders to drive collective action, align on shared frameworks, and accelerate impact at origin. Global Coffee Platform reposted this
A historic moment for the global coffee community. I warmly congratulate Vanusia Nogueira and the International Coffee Organization (ICO)on the United Nations General Assembly’s official designation of 1 October as International Coffee Day. This recognition matters because coffee is far more than a beverage. It sustains livelihoods, connects rural communities to global markets, and carries deep cultural, social, and economic meaning. As Chair of the Board of the Global Coffee Platform, I see this not only as a celebration, but also as a call to action. Recognition must lead to stronger collaboration, smarter investment, greater transparency, and real progress for producers. GCP stands ready to help turn global recognition into practical action by connecting actors across the value chain, supporting country-level collaboration, and advancing shared responsibility for a more sustainable and prosperous coffee sector. Congratulations to the International Coffee Organization (ICO), to FAO and all partners who helped make this milestone possible. October 1 is now not only a day to celebrate coffee, but a day to honor the people behind every cup.
