FLOSS Uzbekistan

Floss Uzbekistan is a nonprofit initiative dedicated to nurturing and sustaining the open source ecosystem in Uzbekistan. We bring together technical and niche IT communities across the country, helping them grow, collaborate, and thrive through shared standards, transparent governance, and long-term support. Our mission is to provide structure and sustainability to local developer groups by assisting in community building, maintenance, and moderation. We help communities establish clear rules, foster inclusive environments, and align with international open source values—all while preserving their unique identity and autonomy. We understand that every community is formed around a purpose—often involving research, experimentation, or solving real-world problems. That’s why we go beyond coordination: we actively support communities in their research efforts, provide access to infrastructure such as servers, and offer funding for projects that align with our vision of a healthier, more collaborative tech ecosystem. We also maintain a self-hosted Matrix moderation space at (https://matrix.to/#/#community:floss.uz) where organizers and moderators can coordinate and support one another.
