  • AI in the Week — Ending October 17, 2025. Hey folks — here’s what we’ve been reading across the world of AI this week: 💼 Jobs & Workforce A Senate Democrats’ report warns AI could eliminate nearly 100 million American jobs in the next decade, with roles in fast food, accounting, and trucking most at risk. 🧠 DeepMind’s Security Agent Google DeepMind unveiled CodeMender, an AI agent that identifies and patches software bugs. It combines agents that write and validate fixes — and has already published 72 verified security patches. 🗞️ ChatGPT Data Retention Changes OpenAI will no longer retain deleted or temporary inputs for most users after a court mandate was eased. Exceptions apply for users flagged by publishers in the ongoing paywall-bypass lawsuit. 🧬 Model Poisoning Risks Anthropic and partners found that fewer than 250 “poisoned” documents can implant backdoors in large models, regardless of size or training time. Larger models might actually be more vulnerable than smaller ones. 📉 AI Report Controversy Deloitte will refund part of its fee to the Australian government after an AI-assisted report was found to include hallucinated citations. The revised report corrected references but left conclusions unchanged. ⚙️ OpenAI and AMD Partnership OpenAI struck a multibillion-dollar agreement with AMD to deploy hundreds of thousands of AI chips and build a one-gigawatt facility, with an option to acquire up to 10% of AMD. AMD stock surged on the news. 🤖 AI Agent Adoption According to G2 reviews, companies deploying AI agents are seeing measurable cost and speed gains — especially when humans stay in the loop. Oversight remains key to sustained performance. Thanks to Stephen Jordan for helping keep our LinkedIn community — and the FairNow team — in the loop each week. 🔗 All links are in the comments. #ArtificialIntelligence #TechNews #AI #ResponsibleAI #AIGovernance ----- For updates on AI Regulations, subscribe to our monthly newsletter 👉 https://lnkd.in/eQ96sApy

California’s AI Rulebook Is Taking Shape. October 13, 2025: marked final decisions around various AI rules in California. Several laws were signed, and one major one got Gov. Newsom's veto. These bills, on top of a number of rules dictating how AI fits into other existing laws, have meant this year saw a lot of change. So what's the summary? ➡️ Swipe through for a snapshot of what passed, what didn’t, and what every enterprise and AI builder should be preparing for. From frontier model transparency to chatbot safeguards and employment-related decision systems, California is drawing clear boundaries around how AI can be built and used. The focus is on accountability, recordkeeping, and user rights—signaling that even as the state encourages innovation, it expects greater visibility into how AI impacts people’s lives. ⚖️ AI builders and enterprises implementing AI for California residents should now be reviewing their AI inventories, ensuring appropriate documentation is in place, and—where applicable—confirming that third-party tools meet compliance obligations. While several of these measures target specific use cases, together they form the recipe for what good AI governance looks like—balancing transparency, accountability, and responsible adoption. 🔗 See the breakdown of California’s new AI regulations and what they mean for your compliance strategy: https://lnkd.in/e5-C9Xg6 #AIGovernance #AIRegulations #California

  • California’s Automated Decision Systems Rule Takes Effect October 1, 2025 What counts as an Automated Decision System (ADS) under California’s rule? An ADS is defined as a computational process that makes a decision or assists human decision-making related to employment benefits. These systems may rely on artificial intelligence, machine learning, algorithms, statistics, or other data-processing techniques. In practice, this includes tools like resume screeners, applicant assessments, or platforms that direct recruitment flows. ⚠️ In other words, this rule covers a wide variety of tools used in hiring and HR—including not just new LLM-driven solutions but also traditional algorithms that employers may not even think of as “AI.” California’s ADS rule emphasizes three core areas: recordkeeping, accommodations, and optional bias testing. Here are three questions cross-functional teams—from HR to Legal—should be discussing now: 1️⃣ How will you (and your HR Tech vendor) store recordkeeping of inputs, outputs, and training data for 4 years? 2️⃣ What accommodations or alternatives are in place if ADS systems disadvantage certain groups? 3️⃣ Have you explored AI bias auditing? While not required, it’s a safeguard that can strengthen defenses against discrimination risks. 📘 Read the full guide: https://lnkd.in/g6tQBEdN #AIGovernance #AICompliance #ResponsibleAI #HR #Recruitment

How a year changed the #AIGovernance conversation: from explaining the concept to showing measurable results. Last year at the #HRTechConf PitchFest, we introduced HR teams and HR Tech vendors to the practice of AI governance—why it matters and how it fits into an organization’s approach to managing AI responsibly across the enterprise. This year we returned with proof. Joined on stage by our Dayforce's Head of Data and AI Governance, Kristin Colburn. We discussed AI governance in action—at a moment when AI adoption is accelerating and regulatory scrutiny is rising just as fast. Dayforce’s results highlight what’s possible when governance is built in from the start: • Formal AI Reviews—structured governance checkpoints—embedded throughout the AI lifecycle. • Growth from 17 to 104 reviews in just one year. This is what scaling AI responsibly looks like—adoption and innovation growing side-by-side with trust and compliance. #AIGovernance #ResponsibleAI #AICompliance #AIAdoption #HRTech2025

I had the privilege of speaking on a panel today with Guru Sethupathy at #hrtech2025 about how Dayforce is integrating AI governance, not just to reduce risk, but to accelerate responsible innovation. The results speak for themselves: 📊 Last year: 17 AI reviews 📊 This year: 104 AI reviews ➡️ That’s a 500%+ increase in productivity. This transformation wouldn’t have been possible without FairNow. By automating and streamlining the manual aspects of AI governance, the platform has enabled us to keep pace with the growing demand while maintaining trust, compliance, and ethical oversight. AI governance doesn’t have to slow innovation, it can power it. #AIGovernance #ResponsibleAI #Innovation #RiskManagement

Hey folks – we’re sharing what we’ve been reading in the world of AI – ending September 14th, 2025: 🗺️ Anthropic’s September 2025 Economic Index shows AI adoption is highly unequal: richer countries and U.S. states use it far more, while lower-income regions lag.  - High-use regions apply AI across diverse tasks, while low-use ones focus on coding.  - Usage is shifting toward automation, especially in business contexts, though augmentation remains important.  - Many more insights throughout – worth a read! 💬 An analysis of speeches given in the UK House of Commons reveals AI is heavily involved in speechwriting. Words and phrases favored by AI (“navigating”, “bustling”, etc.) have clearly spiked in usage since the release of ChatGPT in 2022.   🇦🇱 Albania’s new public procurement minister was announced and… it’s an AI bot. Diella (“sun” in Albanian) is impervious to threats or bribes, but is still at risk of jailbreaking. It’s unclear if the arrangement will actually be implemented. - This would possibly be the first time AI has taken a government role, and this poses interesting questions about reliability and accountability. 🏢 OpenAI’s organizational structure is shifting. The non-profit will control and be funded by a new “Public Benefit Corporation” with an equity stake of over $100B. This structure ensures resources for growth but muddies the lines between non-profit and for-profit. 🤝 At the same time, Microsoft announced the company will pay to use Anthropic’s AI in Office 365 apps in an effort to diversify its AI sources. Microsoft has long been OpenAI’s biggest investor and partner but a rift has been growing. 🔍 The FTC announced an inquiry into a list of companies that make AI chatbot “companions” available to minors. The inquiry will focus on potential impacts to children and teenagers, the companies’ monetization strategies, and transparency with parents. - Recently, Meta’s content guidelines were revealed to permit “sensual” conversations with children. 🧑💻 Dario Amodei (Anthropic CEO) previously said 90% of code would be written by AI within six months. Six months have passed, and Amodei’s prediction has likely turned out to be false: One recent study finds only 32% of senior software developers say AI writes at least half their code. 🇰🇵 North Korean hackers used ChatGPT to construct a recent malware attack targeting journalists, researchers, and activists in South Korea. Hackers were able to jailbreak the AI to generate a fake military ID and phishing messages. 🔗 All links in the comments! • The countdown is on. #HRTechConf is just 4 days away. 175+ sessions covering the shiny side of AI. Agents. Algorithms. No surprise. ❓But what about talks on AI risk management, regulatory compliance, and Responsible AI — the backbone of AI adoption success? Glad you asked. Here’s one of only two sessions in the entire agenda focused on the practice of AI Governance — and specifically, how it applies to HR. Not harnessing AI is the biggest risk HR can take. The second? Failing to manage AI risk. Mark your calendars. --- 💬 Beyond the Algorithm: Investing in AI and Governance for Enterprise HR Success 🗓️ Thursday, September 18, 2025 ⏰ 2:30–3:00 PM (local Las Vegas time) 📍 Oceanside C Ballroom --- Kristin Colburn, Head of Data & AI Governance at Dayforce, and Guru Sethupathy, CEO of FairNow, will share a practical playbook for AI Governance in HR: ✅ Build trust in AI systems ✅ Stay ahead of compliance ✅ Embed governance at scale Real-world application for HR practitioners and HR Tech solution providers.
