What does leadership look like when generations build it together? As part of our Intergenerational Conversations series, Irene Schilling, member of EWMD Germany and core team of the Young & Active initiative, shares a perspective on connection, care, and what leadership needs today: “In a world that often celebrates constant productivity, I believe that true leadership means caring for mental health as much as for results. Young women today seek orientation and guidance - something our women’s network offers through openness, exchange, and shared experience. At #EWMD, we build bridges not only among women but also with men who share our mindset. Knowledge alone no longer defines success - connection does. By shaping our paths together, we create lasting wellbeing and joy, both personally and professionally.” Through initiatives like Young & Active, #EWMD creates spaces where these perspectives can meet. Re-launched in 2025, Young & Active brings together women in their mid-20s to mid-40s across the DACH region not as a separate group, but as an active part of a broader, intergenerational network. From open “Let’s Talk” formats to mentoring, retreats, and peer exchange, the goal is simple: to learn from each other, to challenge each other, and to grow together.
