Steel decarbonisation used to stop at the factory floor. Now it moves with the freight. India moves 180 million tonnes of steel every year,nearly half of it by road, on diesel. At the 13th Indian Steel Markets Conference's Steelathon, Yudhishthir Ruia, a member of Essar's founding family, made the case that this can change today, with no change to existing plant processes. Key pointers from his session: ➡️ Decarbonisation pressure has moved from the plant to the supply chain, driven by carbon border mechanisms and domestic ESG targets. ➡️ GreenLine is built as an integrated ecosystem, with over 1,000 LNG and EV trucks deployed, crossing 100 million cumulative kilometres in three years. ➡️ Trusted across steel, cement, FMCG, e-commerce, oil & gas and more ➡️ Priced at parity with diesel, with green certificates that quantify CO2 savings. ➡️ The ambition is bigger: from 1,000 trucks to 10,000 over the next three years. ➡️ The technology to clean up steel logistics isn't years away. Essar Energy Transition has successfully renewed a US$300m strategic crude and product facility between Essar Energy Transition Fuels and Petraco Group for a further three years. The facility enables Essar Energy Transition Fuels to diversify the crude sourcing and marketing options for its products. It further strengthens feedstock security in an increasingly volatile global energy market, enhancing the company’s ability to respond to changing market conditions and capture value across its refining and trading activities. Essar Energy Transition Fuels, owner and operator of the Stanlow Refinery, has delivered strong commercial performance this year, including its highest ever domestic sales and production since acquisition. The transaction represents an important next step as Essar Energy Transition Fuels strengthens strategic relationships with leading industry players.
