  • Cyber readiness starts with knowing what to prioritize. AI is reshaping the threat landscape, but for many small and midsize organizations, the risks driving incidents are not always the newest or loudest. They often come down to familiar gaps in visibility, monitoring, and the ability to respond before a small issue becomes a larger disruption. The good news? ✅ Common threats are well understood ✅ Proven defenses already exist ✅ Focused improvements can make a meaningful difference That is where ESET MDR can help. With expert-led detection and response, organizations can strengthen visibility and accelerate action without adding more complexity to already stretched teams. One of the most useful ways to understand ransomware is to stop thinking about it as just malware—and start thinking about it as a business. Ransomware affiliates behave a lot like resellers. If one ransomware operation is disrupted by law enforcement or simply falls out of favor, they don't necessarily stop operating. They move to another provider and continue generating revenue. It's an uncomfortable comparison, but it helps explain why ransomware remains so resilient. The infrastructure may change. The branding may change. The financial incentives don't. Understanding the economics behind cybercrime is just as important as understanding the technical tradecraft. It helps explain how these ecosystems adapt, recover, and continue operating despite takedowns. Do you think the security industry spends enough time analyzing the business model behind ransomware, or are we still too focused on the malware itself? #CyberSecurity #Ransomware #ThreatIntelligence #InfoSec #SecurityWeekly #AI #RSAC #RSAC2026 #CRTV Matt Alderman Tony Anscombe ESET SC Media CyberRisk Alliance Security Weekly Productions

  • 💭 Ransomware attacks continue to rise, yet ransom payments are declining. What stands behind this shift, and is it indicative of a positive, long-term change? While ransomware defenses are growing stronger by the day, attackers are also becoming more creative in their efforts. Is the cycle ready to break or will it persist? Discover the answer in our latest ESET Blog in the comments below ⬇️
