  • Did you catch ITV’s Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh recently? Our HOTBIN composter was featured in a segment led by DIY expert Wayne Perry, better known as the TV Carpenter, who explored a range of composting solutions designed to help more people begin composting ahead of Spring. Described as “all singing and all dancing,” the HOTBIN stood out for its ability to process a broader range of waste than traditional cold composters. Its performance is driven by the highly insulating properties of its ARPRO expanded polypropylene (EPP) body, enabling the HOTBIN to operate as an effective hot composter. This means it can handle not only garden waste and vegetable peelings but also cooked food waste and even perennial weeds - items typically avoided in cold compost heaps. The result - less waste sent to landfill and more nutrient‑rich compost produced at home. #SustainableInnovation #Composting #EPP #LessWaste #Sustainability

  • We’re incredibly proud to celebrate a superb work anniversary, 30 years with Engineered Foam Products for Jill Beasley. Jill joined the business in 1996, beginning her journey in Customer Services (back when we were Tuscarora), and has since evolved across multiple areas including Quality, Purchasing, and now P&C. Along the way, she’s experienced first-hand the growth and transformation of the company, from Tuscarora, to SCA, to DS Smith, and now EFP. Reflecting on her journey, Jill shared how those early opportunities, including training in Atlanta, Georgia, shaped her career, and how the people she’s worked with have made all the difference: “I have learned not just about the work we do here, but also about teamwork, patience, and the value of work mates and laughter along the way… I see the people I work with as work family.” Jill’s journey is one of loyalty, growth and relationships, even meeting her husband Carl through the business over 23 years ago. Chief People Officer, Margaret Cracknell, said: “Jill’s experience and professionalism are hugely valued by the team and wider business. She approaches everything with care and precision, and her contribution over the past three decades has been outstanding.” Jill, thank you for the dedication and positivity that you’ve brought to the business over the past 30 years, here’s to many more years ahead! 👏 #WorkAnniversary #TeamEFP #EmployeeRecognition #30Years #OurPeople

  • Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is a proven high-performance material supporting modern construction and infrastructure. Used widely across the construction sector, EPS offers an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, making it both durable and lightweight. This combination makes it easy to transport, handle and install while maintaining reliable structural performance. In civil engineering, EPS is commonly used in road and rail projects where lightweight fill and ground stabilisation are required. In building applications, it provides excellent thermal insulation, helping maintain consistent indoor temperatures, reduce heat loss and improve energy efficiency. EPS also contributes to more sustainable construction. By improving a building’s energy performance, it helps lower operational carbon emissions and reduce long-term running costs. Importantly, EPS is 100% recyclable and as the construction sector continues its transition toward net-zero, materials such as EPS that combine performance, efficiency and recyclability will play an increasingly important role.

Expanded Polystyrene is a material supporting far more industries than many people realise. Thanks to its light weight, durability and reliable thermal performance, it continues to support applications ranging from packaging and transport to medical use, food safety and construction 🏗️ In our short video below, we highlight some of the key benefits that make this material such a versatile and practical choice across the plastics supply chain ♻️ #PlasticsIndustry #MaterialsInnovation #EPS

  • EPS seed trays have become a reliable choice for nurseries and growers because they offer the right balance of performance, protection and durability. EPS provides natural insulation, helping maintain stable root temperatures, creating a consistent environment for germination. That stability supports stronger, more uniform early growth. Its closed cell structure doesn’t absorb water, so trays stay lightweight, hygienic and free from warping or rot — even after repeated use across multiple growing cycles. EPS is also strong and rigid, yet gentle enough not to damage delicate roots. Its natural cushioning helps protect seedlings during handling and transplanting. #ExpandedFoam #Horticulture #SustainableInnovation #EPS #Polystyrene

  • Expanded polystyrene’s (EPS) natural composition of 98% air not only makes the material extremely resource efficient but is inherently both highly buoyant and hydrophobic lending itself perfectly to the construction of floating mooring and sailing club pontoons. 🔵 Exceptional buoyancy thanks to its natural composition of 98% air 🔵 Hydrophobic performance, meaning it won’t absorb water and maintains stability over time 🔵 High strength to weight ratio, delivering reliable support without adding unnecessary mass 🔵 Inert and non leaching, ensuring no harm to marine life or water quality 🔵 Easy to cut giving designers and installers complete flexibility 🔵 Lightweight and simple to handle, reducing installation time and labour requirements This broad combination of properties in one material is the reason why EPS is a popular choice for pontoons and other applications where buoyancy is key. #ExpandedFoam #SustainableInnovation #Polystyrene #Pontoons
