ACT NOW. GIFT A LIFE.

About us

Every year, thousands of patients in India are diagnosed with life-threatening blood disorders — Leukemia, Thalassemia, Aplastic Anemia, and beyond. For many of them, a blood stem cell transplant is not just a treatment option. It is their last hope. DATRI exists to make sure that hope becomes a reality. As India's largest blood stem cell donors registry, DATRI bridges the gap between patients fighting life-threatening blood disorders and potential donors who can give them a second chance at life. With over 6,60,135 registered potential donors and 1,800+ successful donations facilitated across the world, we have built more than a registry — we have built a movement. Our work is driven by one simple but powerful belief: that a stranger's willingness to register can save a life they may never even meet. What We Do Recruit and register voluntary blood stem cell donors across India Match patients with compatible donors through advanced HLA typing Support and guide donors through every step of the donation process Collaborate with hospitals, corporates, and communities to grow India's donor pool Why It Matters Nearly 70% of patients who need a stem cell transplant cannot find a matched donor within their own family. An unrelated donor from our registry often becomes their only hope. The larger and more diverse our registry, the greater the chance of finding a life-saving match. Join the Movement Registering as a donor takes minutes. The impact lasts a lifetime — both yours and the patient's. If you are between 18 and 50 years of age and in good health, you could be someone's only match.

Honoured to have represented India at the 3rd Asia-Pacific WMDA Meeting in Malaysia, alongside delegates from China, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong. The meeting was an incredible opportunity to exchange ideas on donor recruitment, the role of social media, and innovative approaches to strengthening stem cell donor registries. Beyond the valuable discussions, the networking and collaboration with colleagues across the region made the experience truly enriching. I was also delighted to present DATRI’s experience with Search Match Connect and share our journey in building stronger global collaboration within the stem cell donor registry community. A heartfelt thank you to Lydia Foeken-van Goozen and the entire WMDA team for organizing such a meaningful event and for the opportunity to contribute. Thank you to Malaysian registry for being a beautiful host. The excitement continues as DATRI Blood Stem Cell Donors Registry prepares to host the next International Donor Registry Conference, co-hosted by Anthony Nolan .We look forward to welcoming registries, transplant centres, physicians, and partners from across the globe for another inspiring platform of learning, collaboration, and knowledge sharing. Looking forward to welcoming you all to India next year!

Bone marrow transplantation is one of the most significant advances in modern medicine, offering hope to patients with leukemia, lymphoma, and several other blood disorders. While the procedure is often misunderstood, its impact is profound. Understanding how bone marrow transplants work also helps us appreciate the critical role stem cell donors play in giving patients a second chance at life. Greater awareness can lead to more informed decisions, increased donor participation, and better outcomes for those who need it most. #BoneMarrowTransplant #BloodCancerAwareness #Healthcare #StemCellDonation #Oncology

🌍 Global progress begins with strong partnerships. DATRI Blood Stem Cell Donors Registry and Anthony Nolan are the co-hosts of IDRC 2027. But our partnership started long before planning conferences... Our registries have had a special relationship since DATRI’s foundation in 2009, including our research project to address the global shortage of stem cell donors for patients of South Asian heritage. This has shown encouraging early results, and five patients in India have already received a second chance of life from donors recruited through this initiative. We're excited to come together in 2027 to share expertise, innovation, and demonstrate our commitment to improving patient outcomes through exploring the future of donor registries and transplantation. Join us at the International Donor Registry Conference & WMDA Global Meetings 2027 in Chennai and be part of conversations shaping the future of donor registries and transplantation. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eh6PcyrJ 📢Beat the early bird registration ends on 15 July. • We're delighted to see participants engaging deeply with the science and impact of Blood Stem Cell Transplantation (BMT). Thank you for sharing your experience from the MOHAN Foundation Masterclass, led by Dr. Divya Bansal. Building awareness around donor identification, transplantation processes, and patient care is essential to strengthening the BMT ecosystem in India. At DATRI, we remain committed to supporting patients in need of a life-saving blood stem cell donor and to advancing education on stem cell transplantation. Together, through awareness, learning, and donor registration, we can help give more patients a second chance at life. #DATRI #BloodStemCellDonation #BMT #StemCellTransplant #DonorAwareness #HealthcareEducation #SavingLives

Been sometime, was not quite active on LinkedIn, I hope I’ll get consistent again, So on Saturday I had the opportunity to attend a Masterclass on "Beyond Solid Organ Transplantation: Understanding Bone Marrow Transplantation" organized by the MOHAN Foundation, led by Dr. Divya Bansal. Having worked in a #BMT unit for a little over 1.5 years, much of my understanding of transplantation has come from day-to-day activities, patient interactions, and the many questions I have asked physician assistants, postgraduate doctors, and my Chief. Every task, every doubt, and every discussion has contributed to my learning. However, this masterclass was the first structured and comprehensive session I attended solely dedicated to BMT, and it helped connect many of the concepts I had learned in practice. Dr. Divya explained the BMT journey in a simple and engaging manner from basic understanding what BMT is, donor identification and selection from the different private led registries like DKMS Foundation India , DATRI Blood Stem Cell Donors Registry , conditioning regimens, graft-versus-host disease (#GVHD), chimerism, post-transplant care, and the various complications that patients may experience. One aspect was the distinction between solid organ transplantation and BMT. While solid organ transplantation in India is governed by the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (#THOTA), 1994, BMT primarily follows #ICMR guidelines and established medical best-practice protocols and SOPs. Getting to understand these differences provided valuable perspective on the transplant landscape. She shared during the session was about stem cells being "loyal" or calling them "sticky" cells, when she said that I was like wow this is something fascinating, Dr Bansal explained how they possess the remarkable ability to find their way back to where they belong. I’m grateful to MOHAN Foundation and Dr. Divya Bansal for organizing such an insightful session and for making a complex subject accessible to learners from diverse backgrounds. #BoneMarrowTransplant #StemCellTransplant #MOHANFoundation #Hematology

Vedanta is a philosophy that teaches that we are less separate than we imagine. Modern medicine occasionally arrives at the same conclusion. Sometimes the survival of one human being depends entirely on the existence of another whom they have never met. I've spent much of the last two decades helping build Blood Donors India into a community of 1.1 million people across 106 countries, facilitating 110,000 blood donations and helping save an estimated 15,500 lives. This article is about another network that deserves to be far larger than it is today: DATRI, India's largest blood stem cell donor registry. The cure may already exist. The challenge is helping the patient and donor find each other. So you could help in one or more ways: 1/ Register yourself as a potential donor 2/ Donate to Datri 3/Spread this message
