I am honoured to share that I have been appointed Chair of Cranstoun, a social justice charity founded almost 60 years ago. Stepping into this role is both a privilege and a profound responsibility. Cranstoun’s work is rooted in a deep belief that people deserve support, dignity and the chance to thrive — that belief resonates strongly with me. What draws me to Cranstoun is its relentlessly people-centred and whole‑system approach: recognising that harm, trauma and vulnerability are interconnected and by responding with services that meet people where they are, real and lasting change is possible. From prevention and early intervention to treatment, rehabilitation and policy reform, this is a charity which is making a real difference to some of the most vulnerable people in our society. The organisation shows real courage in tackling some of the most complex and urgent social challenges we face today. I am particularly moved by Cranstoun’s focus on supporting, empowering and advocating for children and young people — ensuring they have the safety, stability and opportunities they deserve. As Chair, I will work to champion quality, strengthen governance, nurture innovation and partnerships so that Cranstoun can continue delivering sustainable, long‑term outcomes for the communities it serves. Above all, I am committed to upholding the values of respect and compassion that sit at the heart of Cranstoun’s identity and that matter deeply to me. I am under no illusion about the scale or complexity of the challenges the sector faces, but I am inspired by the dedication and commitment Cranstoun’s staff, volunteers and services and look forward to working together with my fellow trustees to support the Cranstoun team as we continue building safer, healthier and hopeful futures. #Cranstoun
