Making cloud native ubiquitous
About us
Cloud native computing uses an open source software stack to deploy applications as microservices, packaging each part into its own container, and dynamically orchestrating those containers to optimize resource utilization. The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) hosts critical components of those software stacks including Kubernetes and Prometheus; brings together the industry’s top developers, end users, and vendors; and serves as a neutral home for collaboration. CNCF is part of The Linux Foundation.

Identity and access management has become foundational infrastructure in cloud native systems. KeycloakCon is a KubeCon + CloudNativeCon EU co-located event focused on how open, cloud native identity solutions can evolve as architectures span more clusters, services, and trust domains. The program stays grounded in implementation, while also exploring emerging patterns like workload identity, verifiable credentials, and identity models for non-human actors as agent-based systems become more common. Co-chairs Alexander Schwartz and Yoshiyuki Tabata outline what’s new, who it’s for, and why the half-day, single-track format is designed to create depth without fragmentation. Vito Botta shares a grounded take on Kubernetes in 2026: managed services handle much of the heavy lifting, and many teams can get real value from the core primitives without needing a large dedicated platform team. Good discussion for anyone weighing perceived complexity vs. current operating reality. #Kubernetes #CloudNative #CNCF
There's a myth still going strong that Kubernetes demands a dedicated team of engineers just to keep the lights on. I've been running multiple production clusters singlehandedly for years. Let that sink in. The reality is that Kubernetes has evolved dramatically. Managed services from cloud providers handle the heavy lifting. You get a working cluster in minutes, not days of configuration hell. Most companies benefit from the core functionality alone. Deployments, services, ingress. That is it. You don't need to understand the entire ecosystem. At my current day job with Brella, I actually moved away from managed services. We use my open source tool hetzner-k3s (link in the comments if you are interested) to easily manage our clusters in Hetzner Cloud. This move allowed us to slash our infrastructure costs by 85 to 90 percent compared to GCP. It is a massive saving. I only do this because I have deep experience with the platform. For most people, using a managed service is the easiest and safest way to get started. The loudest critics often haven't touched Kubernetes in years, if ever. They repeat outdated anecdotes. First-hand experience tells a different story. Then there's the stateful workloads myth. Please. This one needs to die. Running databases on Kubernetes is not only viable now, it is genuinely pleasant. Operators for PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis and others make database management declarative and automated. I would go as far as saying Kubernetes is the best platform for databases in 2026. Don't let outdated reputation on compexity and die-hard myths scare you away. Kubernetes is accessible, practical, and increasingly hands-off when you use managed services. You don't need a team of ten. Give it a try. The flexibility, control and power you get compared to other platforms are worth it.
