Mind mapping tools have quietly become serious productivity platforms. What started as simple diagram software now includes AI map generation, real-time collaboration, Gantt chart integration, and direct task management. In 2026, choosing the right tool is less obvious than it used to be. We put together a full comparison of the five leading options: → Miro — the strongest choice for distributed teams that brainstorm and plan visually together → XMind — structured, offline-capable, and great for polished exports → MindManager — enterprise-grade project planning with Excel and Office integration → Coggle — lightweight, free to start, ideal for quick idea capture → MindMeister — connects ideas directly to task workflows via MeisterTask If you're evaluating mind mapping software for your team, this breakdown covers features, free plans, integrations, and what each tool is actually best at. Are Product Requirements Documents becoming obsolete in the age of AI? Not quite — but they are evolving. AI can speed up drafting, improve consistency, and help structure information. But it still can’t replace clear thinking, strong product understanding, and well-defined requirements. In this article, we break down: ✔️ The role of PRDs in modern product development ✔️ How AI enhances (not replaces) documentation workflows ✔️ Best practices for writing effective PRDs today If you're involved in product development or technical writing, this is a conversation you don’t want to miss. We fully agree: as AI reshapes content creation, the true value of technical writers lies not in drafting text, but in owning context.
Technical writers are entering a new phase. In many conversations I’ve had recently, one pattern keeps coming up: some teams still think the job is mainly about producing “good texts.” But in an AI-heavy workflow, good text is no longer the whole value. Drafting is getting cheaper. What becomes more valuable is context ownership - knowing what the product really does, what users struggle with, what terminology is safe, what should never be oversimplified, and where the gaps or contradictions are. That doesn’t make technical writers less important. It makes their role more strategic. The strongest writers I see today are not just polishing output — they are shaping the knowledge layer behind it: guiding AI, validating meaning, protecting accuracy, and turning scattered product knowledge into something a company can actually trust. To me, that looks less like a disappearing role and more like an expanding one. #AI #TechnicalWriting #KnowledgeManagement

Your docs are now readable by AI — not just humans 👏 In our latest update, we focused on one thing: making sure tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini can actually find and understand your documentation. New Reader UI, native Markdown access, llms.txt support, MCP Server — your content is now visible to the AI tools your users already rely on. A few authoring improvements landed too: multiple topic templates and a faster publish flow right inside the editor. 📄 DocOps — beyond Docs-as-Code Documentation isn’t just about storing files in Git. DocOps is about building scalable documentation workflows that combine automation, collaboration, and the right tools. Teams can leverage a mix of tools: - Markdown editors like Obsidian or VS Code for drafting - Collaborative tools like Google Docs for reviews and initial content creation - Help authoring platforms like ClickHelp for structured content, single-sourcing, and conditional publishing With DocOps, organizations can: ✅ Make content reuse and versioning accessible to non-developers ✅ Streamline publishing across multiple formats ✅ Integrate with CI/CD workflows when needed Choosing the right stack is key: it should serve your team, not force your team to adapt to it. Many engineering teams still treat documentation as an afterthought. In reality, high-quality documentation directly impacts team efficiency, onboarding, and product quality. Enter Code-to-Docs: an approach where documentation is partially generated automatically from code using tools and AI. The benefits are clear: - Faster creation and updates - Reduced manual effort - Documentation that stays in sync with code The limitation: Automation excels at explaining what code does — but rarely why it was designed that way. Context, architecture decisions, and subtle business logic still require human expertise. The most effective approach combines: 🔹 Traditional documentation generators (Doxygen, Sphinx, Javadoc) 🔹 AI-powered tools (GitHub Copilot, Swimm, Mintlify) 🔹 Docs-as-code workflows 🔹 Human review and contextual explanations 📌 Key takeaway: Treat documentation as a living part of development, versioned with the code, reviewed in every PR, and maintained continuously. Teams that do this consistently: ✔ Accelerate feature delivery ✔ Improve onboarding for new engineers ✔ Reduce bugs and errors ✔ Eliminate “knowledge silos” In short, good documentation is no longer a side task — it’s a strategic lever for engineering success. Developer Portals: Streamlining Modern Engineering Workflows Engineering teams today rely on a growing number of tools, services, and workflows. A developer portal centralizes all of these into a single platform, enabling teams to: - Discover internal services and APIs - Provision infrastructure efficiently - Access documentation and onboarding guides - Follow standardized development practices In our latest article, we explore: ✅ What a developer portal is and why it matters ✅ Core features of internal developer platforms (IDPs) ✅ Best practices for adoption ✅ Build vs. buy considerations ✅ Real-world case studies from organizations using Backstage, OpsLevel, and Kubernetes Developer portals empower teams to work faster, reduce operational friction, and maintain consistency across software delivery. Docs as Code changed the way many teams build and manage documentation. By treating docs like software—storing content in Git, using CI/CD pipelines, and versioning documentation alongside code—teams gain automation, traceability, and strong alignment with development workflows. But what happens when documentation grows beyond developer-owned READMEs? Large documentation portals often involve technical writers, product managers, SMEs, and localization teams. Managing thousands of topics, multiple product versions, and complex collaboration workflows can introduce challenges that Docs as Code was not originally designed to solve.
