⚠️ ATTENTION BUSINESS MEMBERS! There is a rise in recent reports of scammers targeting business members, and we want you to be aware of it. Scammers are calling businesses claiming to be CEFCU employees who are trying to verify suspicious activity, such as an alleged bank wire being requested. The scammer’s goal is to obtain your CEFCU On-Line and Mobile Banking credentials and Secure Access Codes. In some cases, they send a text message with a link to a fraudulent site, like in the example below. Here are some tips to keep in mind if you ever receive a suspicious phone call: • Do not trust Caller ID. Scammers can easily spoof legitimate CEFCU phone numbers, making it appear the call is coming directly from us. • If you feel unsure, don't engage. Let the call go to voicemail. If a message is left, call CEFCU back using a trusted phone number. • CEFCU will NEVER ask for a Secure Access Code or One-Time Passcode. Any text or call implying this is from a scammer. • Protect your passwords. Make sure passwords are strong, use at least 12 characters, varying capitalization, and avoid using anniversaries, birthdays, or pet names, as they are much easier to breach. If you receive a suspicious call and feel unsure about what to do next, call us at 1.800.633.7077. Business Members can call 1.800.633.7077, ext. 37065.
