  • Unclear consent forms cost you participants—and compromise your research quality. Research shows: For every grade level above reading ability, dropout rates rise by 16%. Yet most consent forms are written at a college-level, while 50% of U.S. adults read below an eighth-grade level. Our free Consent Clarity Checker uses SMOG readability science—the gold standard in health communication—to help you meet IRB and plain-language standards, creating clear, accessible consent forms participants can actually understand. Clear consent = informed participants, higher retention, and more representative research. Try it yourself: https://lnkd.in/gjaafZh2

  • Upcoming Webinar: How to Use EMR Data to Streamline Research and Improve Insights Electronic medical records (EMRs) offer rich, longitudinal data, but accessing and using that data for research has traditionally come with challenges. Fortunately, that’s changing. Join Benjamin Berk, M.D., and Brandon Savage, M.D., for a practical conversation on how study teams are integrating EMR data into research protocols without adding complexity. In this 45-minute session, we’ll cover: • How EMR data can transform trial management and post-hoc analytics • Why patient-mediated exchange makes data access scalable and secure • Smart tools and dashboards for simplifying workflow • Real-world strategies, including FHIR to OMOP conversion • A live demo showing the full EMR-to-insight research workflow Register here: https://lnkd.in/gZfibnsx

📣 Just published in JAMA Network Open The largest randomized clinical trial to date of a fully Digital Asthma Self-Management (DASM) program shows promising results in improving asthma control in adults. The DASM was implemented leveraging CareEvolution’s MyDataHelps™ platform utilizing Apple Watch® and Beddit® Sleep Monitor integration.  This pragmatic, decentralized study enrolled adults with asthma from across the US, recruiting via email through a large US payer (Elevance Health) and enabling all trial activities and data aggregation – eligibility checking, consent, device distribution and data capture, real world data (EHR and Claims), nudges and incentives – to be completed using the digital MyDataHelps study platform. Key takeaways:  🚀 Significant Symptom Improvement: Among participants with uncontrolled asthma at baseline, DASM users saw a 4.6-point improvement in Asthma Control Test (ACT) scores at 12 months—over a full point above the recognized minimal clinically important difference and significantly exceeding improvements seen with usual care (2.8-point adjusted difference vs control, p < .001). 🌎 Anyone, Anywhere Design : The digital nature of the intervention broadened access, recruiting a demographically and geographically diverse cohort (41 states; commercial and Medicaid coverage, with significant representation of those typically underrepresented in healthcare research. 🎯 Personalized, Participant Centric Guidance: Data from Apple Watch and Beddit sensors enabled the app to deliver timely, participant-specific notifications, supporting symptom awareness and proactive asthma management. 💊 Patient Self Efficacy Goes Beyond Asthma Control:  Secondary outcomes showed meaningful gains for DASM participants in medication adherence, readiness for behavior change, health confidence, and productivity. 📉 Techquity Holds Promise: The trial also surfaced actionable insights on differential engagement and response to digital interventions by race, informing future tailored approaches where digital tools can serve as a bridge to those unable to access traditional site based research and care delivery. This fully digital, participant self efficacy and self-regulation based  approach offers a real-world blueprint for accessible, data-driven digital chronic disease management at scale. The entire CareEvolution team is grateful to have an opportunity to contribute to the MyDataHelps digital research infrastructure that enabled this rigorously designed, impactful science to be conducted in record time across the nation. 🔗 Read the full article and supplement in JAMA Network Open: https://lnkd.in/g2hNR4Tp? #DigitalHealth #Asthma #RemoteTrials #DecentralizedTrials #Wearables #MyDataHelps #ClinicalResearch #RealWorldData

  • ⌚ Choosing the Right #Wearable for Your Research Study Many research teams are drawn to wearables for good reason: they offer real-time data, lower participant burden, and new ways to study behavior and physiology. But deciding which device to use, and how to use it, can quickly get complicated. After supporting hundreds of studies through #CareEvolution’s #MyDataHelps™ platform, including collaborations with academic research centers, NIH-funded projects, patient registries, and digital health startups, we’ve seen firsthand how complex these choices can be. That’s why we created this white paper to help. The guide covers: ✔ Key differences between devices like Fitbit, Apple Watch, Garmin, and Oura ✔ When to consider Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) versus study-provided devices ✔ How to weigh accuracy, usability, and participant burden ✔ Data access, integration options, and study logistics Whether you're planning an observational study or a large-scale digital trial, this is a practical resource for evaluating the right wearable for your protocol and participants. 📄 Read the full guide here: https://lnkd.in/gRnnepxS In the coming months, we’ll be doing deeper dives into how to use wearables in specific therapeutic areas like cardiometabolic health, mental health, women’s health, and aging. Let us know what you're most interested in; we’d love your input.

  • Living with asthma—or care for someone who does? It’s easy to miss the early signs of a flare-up. That’s why we built the #AsthmaTool — a free app designed to help people better understand and manage their asthma, day by day. Use it to:  • Log symptoms and track patterns  • Spot potential triggers  • Get alerts when the air quality isn’t safe  • Stay connected to your asthma action plan  • Use data from your smartwatch or ring to stay one step ahead Free to use, with no ads or hidden costs. Just a straightforward way to help you manage asthma more confidently, every day. 📊 In a clinical study, a similar self-management approach helped reduce ER visits by 43%.  📰 Featured in STAT News: https://lnkd.in/eex5T26c Try it or learn more at www.AsthmaTool.org Please share to help us reach more families who could benefit. #ConnectedCare #HealthEquity #DigitalHealthTools #AsthmaSupport

Today, on International ME/CFS Awareness Day, we recognize the millions of people living with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS)—a complex, often misunderstood illness that profoundly impacts the lives of those it touches. We’re honored to support a new collaboration led by Solve M.E., alongside the Brain Inflammation Collaborative, Inc., Chronicle Bio, and the Complex Disorders Alliance to accelerate research on ME/CFS, Long COVID, and other infection-associated chronic conditions (IACCs). Since 2010, Solve M.E. has led efforts to collect patient-reported data—most recently through Solve Together, a platform created by CareEvolution. Solve Together enables users to track symptoms, sync data from smartwatches and fitness trackers, generate reports for their care teams, and opt into research studies. It is now the largest database of its kind in the U.S. We’re proud to support these efforts and to provide the technology that helps researchers and advocates bring more clarity, more data, and ultimately more answers to patients who have waited far too long.
