A brief history of passwords people are definitely still using in 2026: 📅 2010 — "password123" 📅 2015 — "Password123!" (added a capital and a symbol, felt unstoppable) 📅 2018 — their dog's name + birth year 📅 2021 — the same password as above, with a 1 added after the company made them change it 📅 2026 — all of the above, rotating Here's the thing: this isn't stupidity. It's human nature. We're not wired to remember 47 unique strings of characters. That's why password managers exist. That's why passphrase approaches work better. And that's why security culture matters more than security rules.
