Baltimore Roundtable for Economic Democracy reposted this
CDF spent the last three days learning, connecting, and getting inspired at the CooperationWorks! Spring Member Meeting in Baltimore. Day one highlighted Baltimore’s co-op ecosystem, with insights from Baltimore Roundtable for Economic Democracy, Waterbottle Cooperative, and Red Emma's Coffeehouse and Bookstore. Our Deputy Director joined Seed Commons, Rochdale Capital, CoBank, Shared Capital Cooperative and National Cooperative Bank for a funding panel, sharing CDF’s grantmaking and programmatic work. Day two took us into the community to visit Thread Coffee Roasters, Village of Love and Resistance (VOLAR), Waterbottle Cooperative, Common Ground Cafe, Metta Integrative Wellness Cooperative, The Wine Source, and Taharka Brothers Ice Cream Corp. These co-ops are building stronger communities, supporting workers, and creating quality jobs. We wrapped the day with a delicious meal at Mera’s Kitchen Collective. On the final day, our Executive Director joined partners at National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA International (NCBA CLUSA) and CooperationWorks to lead a conversation on expanding capacity and unlocking new opportunities for cooperative development—ending with a powerful reflection on why we do this work. Thank you to CooperationWorks for an incredible three days!
