Best practice says define your research goal first. In reality that's easier said than done: deadlines hit, quarters start, and suddenly the audit should already be in motion. The good news: you have more material to work with than you think. Recently, when we ran a UX audit for a B2B SaaS product in e-commerce, there was no formal research question on the table. What was there: ✅ A scoped brief covering UX, UI, and perceived performance ✅ A demo walkthrough to understand the product firsthand ✅ Two user roles ✅ Analytics and support data to validate findings From there, we defined the touchpoints, ran a structured expert review, and scored every insight against user impact. The result was a prioritised list of findings tied directly to real user behaviour.
