About us

BMe Community is an award-winning network of innovators, leaders, and champions who invest in aspiring communities. Through our Asset-Framing program, we train leading organizations in matters of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. We also run the most remarkable fellowships for Black leaders in the nation. BMe teaches institutions and individuals to define Black people and all people by their aspirations and contributions rather than by degradations and disparities. We don’t ignore what’s wrong with situations, rather we start with what’s right with the people. Then we build their freedoms to Live, Own, Vote, and Excel (L.O.V.E.). That’s how we build equity without stigma. We recognize that “doing our part” to build and support Black people’s freedom to Live, Own, Vote, and Excel means staying informed and repeatedly taking actions that ensure that the next narrative for Black America is one of fairness, opportunity, and justice. • Our CEO Trabian Shorters joined #TheMeasurePodcast with host Leon Andrews of Equal Measure for a powerful conversation on Asset-Framing® and why the narrative we've been using to drive change has run its course. Some of what he shared: ▸ Deficit framing triggers fear. Asset-Framing triggers possibility. ▸ How Asset-Framed campaigns in Michigan and Florida won tri-partisan support and achieved what deficit-based advocacy had failed to do for decades. ▸ The narrative that everything is broken and nothing works has run its course. Leaders using next narrative strategies are seeing greater impact. The era of fixing is over. It's time to build. Listen to the full episode: https://lnkd.in/gykqKfM9

We often talk about asset-based approaches in the social sector, and it's an honor to learn from trailblazers like Trabian Shorters. We talked about his cognitive framework Asset-Framing on #TheMeasurePodcast. Our discussion about shifting how we see others, and my week at the Harambee conference from ABFE. A Philanthropic Partnership for Black Communities, inspired several reflections below. Listen to the full podcast episode here: https://lnkd.in/erwCSNDq
