🎨 Inside out, by design: ampliTex™ on Kia Worldwide's Vision Meta Turismo at Milan Design Week 2026 Where design, architecture, and lifestyle blur, Kia's Vision Meta Turismo holds its own. A dramatic silhouette evokes 1960s long-distance touring, projecting into a digitally immersive future with a lounge-inspired cabin. At the heart of this vision: a material choice that goes far beyond aesthetic. A first in our collaboration with Kia: ampliTex™ now extends beyond interiors to exterior body parts. From the interior to the front, rear, and side bumpers of the Vision Meta Turismo, our flax-based composites are pushing the aesthetic potential of bio-based materials. For CMF designers, it is a platform with a growing palette of custom colours, weaves, and finishes, while being compatible with existing large-scale manufacturing processes for OEMs. Nicolas Samson, Sales Manager at Bcomp, said: "This project demonstrates that natural fibre composites are not only a design statement, but a proven solution for both interior and exterior applications. The Vision Meta Turismo is a meaningful step forward for our collaboration with Kia, and for the broader industry's journey towards making these materials standard in future production programmes." 🌏 From Switzerland to China, the flax-based natural fibre story is travelling further Last week, our own Yijie Li (李熠杰) carried that story across continents to one of Asia's most influential composites gatherings, the China Composites Expo in Shenzhen. In front of engineers and decision-makers shaping the next generation of composites, Yijie made a case the industry can no longer ignore. Proven on race tracks to industrial scale, what started with skis on the slopes and race cars on the circuit is now making its way into series production vehicles, and everything in between. Each step a reminder that natural fibres are no longer the exception, they are part of how the future is being built. There is something quietly powerful about watching a technology born in Fribourg land with the same conviction on the other side of the world. 🎙️ Natural fibres are no longer a promise. What was once perceived as a niche is now on the road. The momentum was impossible to ignore at JEC World 2026. Per Mårtensson joined the Alliance for European Flax-Linen & Hemp and Sicomin on JEC TV with Jeff Sloan for a panel discussion that highlighted the maturity of natural fibres in the composites industry - a process that takes time but is very much an industrial reality. At the heart of the conversation was a simple but powerful truth. "It is not something you do just to be nice," Per reflected. "It actually fits into real products, real industrial phases." And behind that conviction, a story of trust: "You need strong partners and you need somebody that believes in you, like BMW believed in us." This trust has led to winning the JEC Innovation Award 2026, which recognised the joint journey of Bcomp and the BMW Group, starting with motorsport validation to series production for exterior automotive parts at scale. A milestone that marks not just a product achievement, but a turning point for the entire natural fibre composites industry. What does it really take to break into automotive as a deep tech supplier? Christian Fischer, Bcomp's CEO shared his version last week at this year's JEC Composites Leadership Circle. A few takeaways from the discussion: ▸ Start with niche markets first. Before you can convince automotive OEMs and supply into automotive serial vehicles, you need to build credibility. Niche applications provide you with the space to prove your technology and earn your reputation. ▸ Deep tech means complex value chains — and complex value chains take time to build. The ones who succeed aren't the fastest. They're the most resilient. ▸ Find the champions, the people who drive change inside your customers like BMW Group. The ones almost as obsessed as you to do things differently. Earn their confidence and work together with them as ONE team. Our role as a supplier is constantly evolving. At Bcomp, it’s not necessarily about taking the fast lane, but about moving in the right direction, with the right people, to turn complexity into a shared challenge and drive change to the better.
