National Fair Housing Month is celebrated every April to commemorate the passing of the 1968 Fair Housing Act, which prohibits housing discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, or disability. At All Chicago, we do our best to ensure that anybody who needs a home can get the assistance necessary to acquire one, without having to worry about being discriminated against because of their identity.

Congratulations to our board member, Denis Peirce, for the recognition he'll be getting at the National Public Housing Museum's A Place to Call Home Gala next week. Denis will be honored with the Civic Love Award. We appreciate all the work you do for All Chicago and the community!
You’re invited—join us for a joyous celebration of “home.” The National Public Housing Museum’s 2026 gala A Place to Call Home brings together civic and cultural luminaries, artists, corporate leaders, and public housing residents and leaders to build community and inspire a future where housing is a human right. This year, the gala is co-chaired by Liz Thompson, Mirja Spooner Haffner, and Francine Washington. We are honoring sociologist and Eviction Lab principal investigator Matthew Desmond, Black Ensemble Theater founder and former Cabrini-Green resident Jackie Taylor, and philanthropist and housing advocate Denis Pierce. Don’t miss out—tickets are now available at https://nphm.org/gala

Last night at our Associate Board Open House, we had the pleasure of welcoming a great crowd and introducing them to the work All Chicago is doing to prevent and end homelessness across the city. It was a great opportunity to share how individuals can get involved and make a meaningful impact by joining the Associate Board. Thank you to everyone who attended! We’re excited to continue building a group looking to give back to the community.

Yesterday, our Director of Coordinated Entry Laura Bass and M Nelsen from the Chicago Coalition to End Homelessness discussed homelessness and the homeless response system with graduate students in the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice. The students had great questions and a clear desire to get involved. It's inspiring to talk to people we hope and expect to see soon as partners in the work to prevent and end homelessness.
