This past week several of our leaders shared, learned and grew their collaborations at the American Alliance of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE). Our Chief Growth Officer at the OrthoAlliance, Andrew Carlson, MBA, MS, ATC co-presented “Strategic planning that drives real-world results.” He challenged executives to define their future: “Where do you want to be in 3-5 years? What decisions are you going to make in your strategy session that you’re going to be thankful for later?” He stressed the importance of clearly defined goals and objectives that include who is responsible for each action item.

Great conversations, honest insights, and a lot of shared experiences at the 2026 AAOE Annual Conference in Louisville. Kegan Williams presented alongside Tom Pawlik from Ortho Northeast, walking through their journey to MIPS success — what worked, what didn’t, and what it really takes to move the needle. An interesting moment? A live poll during the session where the most common words used to describe MIPS were: ➡️ Frustrating ➡️ A headache ➡️ Confusing Safe to say… we’re all feeling it. But that’s exactly why conversations and partnerships like these matter — bringing teams together to share strategies, challenge the status quo, and find better ways forward. Big thank you to the entire American Alliance of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE) team for hosting a conference that sparked reflection, innovation, and connection. American Alliance of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE) 2026 is a wrap. What a week. From conversations at the booth to small group dinners, late-night bourbon tastings, and a packed social with cowboy hat making and live bluegrass, the best moments weren’t planned. They were the ones where operators leaned in, compared notes, and shared what’s actually happening inside their practices. A few things we heard again and again: • Teams are looking to simplify: fewer systems, fewer handoffs, more continuity • The front door of the practice is still where the biggest breakdowns happen • There’s real momentum around AI, but expectations are higher: it has to work in the messy, real-world complexity of orthopedic care One moment that stuck with us: "I've been coming to AAOE for I can't tell you how many years, and these are the types of events that help us build relationships with each other." That's what we're here for. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, pulled up a chair, or stayed for one more song. See you next year.

Feeling incredibly grateful after a full week of learning, connecting, and growing — starting at the American Alliance of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE) Annual Conference 2026 and ending back home jumping straight into onboarding new team members. Being selected for the SAOE Leadership Academy made this experience possible and even more meaningful, and I’m thankful for the opportunity. I was fortunate to attend alongside two teammates Erica Vionet and Emilye Meyer, MS, ATC who were also selected for the Leadership Academy, as well as our COO, Kasey Herrington, and CEO, Andrew Wade, DHA, FACHE, FACMPE. Congratulations to Andrew on being recognized as Practice Executive of the Year 🎉 Thankful to have the opportunity to learn from you both! I’m proud to be part of OrthoSC, an organization that genuinely prioritizes growth and mentorship.
