Why Learning Trajectories?

The Clements and Sarama Learning Trajectories approach to early math includes:

  1. Goals: Decide what area of math you want children to learn

  2. Developmental Progressions: Observe children and learn about the development of children's mathematical thinking

  3. Instructional Activities: Offer children effective and engaging activities to joyfully and playfully learn math

This site was developed to help anyone interested in supporting young children's early math learning with research about the steps children typically take to learn math.
