Chief Operating Officer and President, Security Products, Google Cloud
Francis deSouza is the Chief Operating Officer and President of Security Products at Google Cloud. He leads strategic operations to scale Google Cloud for the next wave of growth through differentiated technologies, strategies, policies, processes and systems. Francis also leads Google Cloud’s world-class security portfolio, driving innovation across products and solutions, threat intelligence, consulting and governance.
He joined Google in January 2025 after three decades as an engineer, technology executive, security expert, entrepreneur, board member and investor. Prior to Google, Francis was the CEO of Illumina, where he led the company's growth and innovation in DNA sequencing. He also served as President at Symantec, overseeing their security and data management portfolio. Francis also co-founded three companies: SynthLabs (an AI alignment company), IMlogic (an IT security company acquired by Symantec), and Flash Communications (an instant messaging company acquired by Microsoft).
He is on the Board of Directors of Deel, and previously served on the Board of Directors of The Walt Disney Company and Citrix. Francis is passionate about improving life through breakthrough technological advancements.
Francis graduated from MIT with Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in electrical engineering and computer science, and a minor in economics.
