Global CBPR Forum

Building Digital Trust through Partnerships

Data protection and privacy is a shared concern in the public and private sector alike and among consumers.

The Global CBPR Forum creates a space for legal jurisdictions, certification entities, and organizations handling personal data to come together around common data protection and privacy interests and build trust in cross-border flows of data.

The Global CBPR Forum enables trusted data flows globally through international data protection and privacy certifications – the Global Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) System and Global Privacy Recognition for Processors (PRP) System.

The Global CBPR System and Global PRP System

The ability to transfer information across borders is fundamental for businesses in the global economy

These voluntary certifications allow organizations to demonstrate their compliance to internationally-recognised data protection and privacy standards developed and supported by participating jurisdictions.

Accountability is a key feature of the Global CBPR and Global PRP Systems. Companies that seek Global CBPR or Global PRP certification must have their data protection and privacy policies and practices verified by a third-party certification entity known as an Accountability Agent. This generates trust among consumers, businesses and regulators.

The Global CBPR System ensures that when a certified company moves personal information across borders, it is protected to the standards prescribed by the Global CBPR Framework
