The first version was written against foxisapi.dll, bringing Visual FoxPro functionality to the web in a way that felt exciting and experimental at the time.

In 2006, the site was rewritten in ASP.NET with a Visual FoxPro OLE DB backend. That architecture is still the foundation of the current version today. Since 2020, Foxite has been running stable on a Windows Server 2019 virtual machine with only 4 GB of RAM, a nice reminder that solid software does not always need massive infrastructure.

Over the years, the number of active members has naturally declined, as the use of Visual FoxPro itself has declined. But even today, Foxite still has an active community, albeit a smaller one. We are proud to see people continue to visit, contribute, help each other, and sometimes return after many years.

During these 25 years, we have also lost several valued and well-known members of the community, including Ken Murphy, Mike Gagnon, Koen Miller, Marcia Akins, Matt Slay, and Sytze de Boer. Let us remember them with gratitude and respect for everything they shared with us.

A special thank you goes to our sponsors and to everyone who has supported Foxite through donations over the years. Your contributions have helped keep the site online and available to the community.

After 25 years, Foxite is still here. Smaller than before, perhaps, but still alive, still useful, and still carried by the same community spirit that made it special from the beginning.

Thank you all for being part of the journey.
--
Eric den Doop
www.foxite.com - The Home Of The Visual FoxPro Experts

End of Year Thanks (and Year 25 Ahead)

As another year wraps up, I just want to say thank you for keeping this community alive and ticking. The fact that people are still showing up, posting, helping each other, and caring about this place means a lot.

Next year, 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of our community. That?s a pretty wild number, and it only happened because so many of you chose to stick around and contribute over the years. Whether you?ve been here since the early days or joined more recently, you?re part of what made that possible.

A quiet but important thank you goes to everyone who has donated. Your financial support helps cover the stuff that keeps the lights on and the server humming along. It?s genuinely appreciated.

Wishing everyone a calm holiday season and a healthy New Year. Onward to year 25!
--
Eric den Doop
www.foxite.com - The Home Of The Visual FoxPro Experts

Downtime expected

My ISP is performing network maintenance today. As a result, my connection may go offline temporarily, and we might receive a new IP address. If that happens, I?ll update the DNS once the maintenance is complete. Rule #1 has been changed from

"1) You are not allowed to post any political related messages."

to

"1) You are not allowed to post any political related or religious oriented messages."

Personally, after running this site for almost 12 years, I feel unfortunate about this change. I do not wish to be the internet police, nor do I wish to limit your freedom of speech.
