With the announcement of Jubei, BlazBlue is also officially getting a new patch, which is dubbed Central Fiction 2.0. Much like with Guilty Gear Rev 2, Arc System Works has compiled all of the major changes with every character into a .pdf file located in this link. You might already be aware that this file is entirely in Japanese, so members of the BlazBlue community have banded together to translate these changes all throughout Twitter. The changes have been compiled into a single Google document, which can be accessed here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1sQpDd_HQRLYoVE5pLHDhvKcUzMjdbJtKajc-mV8J_1U/edit

Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX SIX STARS!!!!! is halfway through its Kickstarter campaign, and thanks to its passionate fans they've already reached their initial goal of $100,000, and will be porting the game to PC via Steam!

But, like any good Kickstarter, EXAMU has added some exciting stretch goals in hopes of bringing in more funding, and we need your help to reach them!
When the Kickstarter first launched, EXAMU worried that they wouldn't even be able to fund the game itself. But thanks to the outpouring of support in Japan and from around the world, and so they've announced these stretch goals with the intent of releasing the final, definitive Arcana Heart 3 revision.
The first stretch goal - Paracelsia (the game's boss character) as an Arcana, and updated balancing - has already been reached, and as of writing we need another $85,000 to reach the next: a new playable character, currently nicknamed Shark Girl!
Next, at $400,000, is the mysterious, dual-wielding Dark Heart, and her Arcana: Love Prison Geist! Little is known about her, but I must admit her design has me very interested.

At the $500,000 mark we see the introduction of a new boss character, Omega! Additionally, a new storyline will be added that also brings together the stories from earlier titles. At $570,000, Omega will also be added as a playable character!
We've still got a way to go before these new characters are funded, so please consider chipping in if you can! Just $25 gets you the port on Steam, in English, as well as a key for all the DLC funded by the stretch goals (not to mention a love letter from the producers), which is an incredible deal on its own. There are only 15 days left, so get it while you can!

Following the conclusion of EVO 2017's BBCF Grand Finals, Mori took to the main stage to make some announcements. What came next, not many people could have foreseen. Jubei is set to release sometime during the Summer, but that wasn't the only announcement Mori had in store for fans...

More information is soon to come, so stay tuned!

Screen Shot 2017-01-30 at 12.21.33 PM.pngHi everyone, I know I've been pretty quiet for the past few months... but for a good cause! I've been using Dantarion's hitbox viewer  to figure out frame data for BBCF! I wasn't able to figure out all values, but the majority of them are all on the frame data pages on the wiki!

http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php/BBCF/Frame_Data

They're also on GunFrame (iOS/Android app).

Unfortunately, I'm going to be very busy for the next few months with personal issues, so I need help getting the frame data onto the character pages (the ones with the images), as they still have data from the old games. If you'd like to help, feel free to start updating the pages; you don't need an account to make edits on he wiki!
If you have questions on how to edit the wiki or notice wrong values in the frame data, feel free to message me.

CDqhcf9.pngDantarion (of SFV hitbox, Kenbot and more) has released a tool that takes all the scripts that makes up character data and converts it into hitboxes. Keep in mind that this is directly from the character scripts themselves, so some data may be hard to read, but the data is all there. He also promises similar data for Xrd-R and P4AU in the future!

Be sure to thank Dantarion if you see him!

Dengeki had an event over the weekend where they showed off the console exclusive character Es! From a quick viewing of the video, some of her attacks leave a trail in the air that become attacks after a delay. She also has a way to stock a charge that powers up her specials!

Jourdal was kind enough to record the stream and put it on youtube, so those of us without Nico Premium can see it.

Heading to Evo this year? Aksys is sponsoring 2 players to go to the Toushinasai 2016 in October in Japan. Toushinasai is a spritual successor the SBO arcade tournaments of old and will be run entirely on arcade hardware (sorry pad players). You can find the rules here, but there's two ways to earn a spot:

  1. Be the highest qualifying player in the Evo Main tournament for XRD-R
  2. Win the qualifying tournament Aksys is hosting at Evo. Rules are on Aksys' website here

http://www.aksysgames.com/2016/06/21/toushinsai-qualifier-at-evo-updates/

In addition to that, people (including yours truly) will be hosting side tournaments for BB, +R, UNIEL, VS, Melty Blood, DFCI, and more! You can find more information here:

https://animevo.moe/

Hop to it! Some of these games don't have on site registration (BB and P4)

    • There's a general consensus that Xrd is simpler than +R in 99% of aspects. With that being said, there's still plenty of depth, with absurd combo routes as usual and some interesting mechanics like Blitz and the expanded Roman system which let you get away with more than usual, especially with projectile > Yellow Roman oki for mixups and whatnot.   There is an element to be known that Xrd is built off the Accent Core build rather than the +R build. This is most prevalent in characters like Pot, who was absolutely insane in +R but relatively weak in Xrd, because AC Pot was pretty bad. Extend this to the rest of the cast, and comparatively, +R was a lot more, for lack of a better term, unhinged than AC which lead into the Xrd design philosophy. Xrd was the first game that was built more to suit a newer player that would see some of +R's crazy fast and complicated execution and be scared away from the game; remember, Xrd was also the first primary console version and trying to stand out amongst the other games available is insanely hard.   All that to say, yes, Xrd is overall simpler than +R, but it still has plenty of complexity. Whether fortunate or not, however, most of its complexity is left to the quick decision making in scramble situations or trying to figure out how to get in through walls of zoning or dealing with insanity like invisible high-lows. Combos are generally simpler (albeit still absurd compared to modern games like Strive) in exchange for equally (and sometimes crazier) neutral and pressure.   Xrd also tends to have more interactions per round courtesy of the insane guts scaling, giving more emphasis on the neutral and on optimizing combos, which, at high levels, leads to crazy routing there's no reason to have at lower levels.
    • I tried to pick I-No in 2013 when the game came out on ps3 but I was new to fighting games and could not figure out what she wanted to do at all, so I played a different character in Xrd and didn't touch +R again for a long time. after rollback I went back because she's really cool and I like execution challenges.
    • I played in the test with Toph and it was so much fun doing things with the platform and pillars. Oki with the pillar to deny roll out and then meaty with the rock flow cancel was so cool.   Movement feels really good in that game and you can cancel dashes into throw like frame 2 to get a sliding throw, it's really silly. Azula's moveset looks cracked too so I'm interested in trying her out.
    • I'm a very new FG player (200 hrs in +R, 100 hrs in Xrd), and I can't find anything to like in Rev 2 that isn't just cooler in +R. I don't care about the better graphics or input buffer, or anything like that.   I play Baiken in +R, and she looks dumbed down in every way in Xrd. I can manage going through Azami before accessing the GC, and the existence of Azami is absolutely hilarious, but beyond that, I don't like one change. Her GC options are less varied, her execution is largely dumbed down, her combos are way less cool, etc. Compare 2H in both games: ones is an AA, a pressure tool, and a situational side-switcher in combos, and it does that all in a unique way. Xrd 2H? Pretty standard call-out low profile-- fine in its own way, but I find it less saucy. And things are similarly less saucy to me like this wherever I look. Additionally, I like chars who have a wide variety of options to represent in any given scenario and high execution, and I can't find anything in Xrd that isn't clearly inferior in both departments to +R. Baiken, again, falls victim to this in my eyes: For example, the flop on Tatami being gone removes a valuable option on pressure and neutral, with not really anything to fill the void, leaving BA simplified in my eyes. I've tried AN, BA, LE, EL, RA, JA, JO, and CH, and have found nothing that dispels my opinion of Xrd being less cool than +R in every department I care about. Closest was EL with her admittedly genuinely unique and rad versatility and oki, but I dislike her mundane defense too much for me to want to main her in a game I dislike.   I really do want to like this game, but I just fail to find anything to like about it due to +R always being there. This week's play sessions have just been focused on finding that thing to like about it, and it just won't show up. Can someone point me the right way?   Edit: changed "crappy defense" to "mundane defense" to better reflect I'm sharing my opinion of playing her, not making a judgment call to the power of her defense.
    • I'm pretty excited for it but I'm still a little bit hesitant to give myself too high expectations. Definitely keeping an eye on it and will see how things look in the first couple days, Azula and Toph look really cool and the general game look very dynamic.
