NAE stands for 'No Animal Exploitation'. Paula and Alex founded this Portuguese brand in Lisbon back in 2008, built around one conviction: a beautiful, well-made shoe should never cost an animal anything. Every pair is designed to be wanted for its looks first.

NAE's footwear is handmade in small Portuguese workshops, the way shoemaking has been done there for generations. The materials tell the rest of the story: cork heels, sandals and sneakers in Piñatex (made from pineapple leaf fibre), recycled PET from plastic bottles, and supple apple leather mules. Each material is chosen to keep the shoe plant-based without giving up on craft or durability.

More than fifteen years on, Paula and Alex still run NAE themselves, the couple who started it. Beautiful shoes, with nothing to apologise for.
