Folkestone is a Library is a three-year Arts Council England Place Partnership Programme by Creative Folkestone with additional funding from The Linbury Trust and Holiday Extras and delivered in partnership with Kent County Council, local libraries, Turner Schools and community organisations.
It’s a shared, town-wide space for events and ideas shaped around stories in all their forms. It brings together what’s happening across Folkestone – from book groups and writing workshops to open mics, performances and one-off gatherings.
While it’s rooted in reading, writing and storytelling, it’s deliberately open. The connection might be clear or it might be loose, but if it invites people to share, listen, imagine or connect, it has a place here.
Across the town, stories are already finding their way into everyday spaces – on beaches, in shop windows, in cafés and community corners. This site simply makes those moments easier to find, easier to share, and easier to be a part of.
Access to stories and creative expression shouldn’t depend on postcode; a town becomes richer when more people can take part.
Folkestone is already an art town. Now it’s becoming a town of storytellers.
