Special Inspector and Manufacturer’s Product Training 2026

The Special Inspector & Manufacturers Product Training is an intensive 8-hour program that combines classroom instruction with hands-on product demonstrations from leading firestop manufacturers. This training provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of inspection procedures, code compliance, and proper installation practices, while offering the opportunity to gain practical experience with tested and listed systems.

The course is designed for three groups:

  1. Individuals preparing to become third-party firestop special inspectors.
  2. Current IFC Firestop Special Inspectors seeking to expand knowledge and increase effectiveness in the field.
  3. IFC Firestop Special Inspectors pursuing the Premier Certificate, fulfilling the required manufacturer hands-on product training.

Attendees will earn 0.7 ICC CEUs upon completion (Course #16578). This training strengthens inspector confidence, supports code compliance, and elevates fire and life safety standards across the built environment.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Apply code requirements and inspection standards to evaluate firestop installations for compliance.
  2. Identify and distinguish tested and listed firestop systems, engineering judgments, and common noncompliant conditions.
  3. Conduct effective firestop inspections, including visual checks, destructive testing, and documentation practices.
  4. Demonstrate hands-on product knowledge of multiple manufacturer systems.
