Welcome to the Folsom Cordova Unified School District!  

Check your home boundary school website for information and the timeline for registration.    
Documents needed to start the enrollment process:

• Proof of age (see guidelines below)
• One proof of residency (see guidelines below)  
• Copy of current immunizations
• Completed Registration Form 

Once completed, parents or guardians must take all enrollment documents to the school office assigned to your home address: home neighborhood school.

The following items are required to begin the registration process:

• TK Registration Form 
• Ed Code 48002 states that any of the documents listed as proof of age is acceptable - 
  • Certified copy of birth record or statement by the local registrar or county recorder certifying the birth date
  • Baptism certificate duly attested
  • Passport
  • An affidavit by the parent, guardian, or custodian of the minor
  • Or, any other means of providing the age of the child as prescribed by the governing board of the school district
• Immunization Records
• Custody Papers: If applicable. Please provide us with a court-stamped copy.
• IEP: If applicable.
• Verification of Residency as defined by Ed Code 48204.1:
• Utility Service Contracts, statements, payment receipts, Government Documents, Driver’s License or non-government-issued photo ID, Voter Registration, Property Taxes, Pay Stub, declaration of residency or correspondence from a government agency may be submitted.
• If you do not have Verification of Residency in your name, an Affidavit of Residency must be completed by the resident whose name is on the SMUD or PG&E utility bill/rental or escrow agreement at the time of enrollment. 

Students must reside full-time with a parent or legal guardian at the residential address given.  If you and your child are living with a family member or friend, the owner of the residence must accompany you to the school and complete an affidavit of residency in person.  The owner of the residence must provide proof of residency documentation.

How to Enroll:  

Enrollment opens on March 2, 2026, this year, with a priority deadline of March 31 for both new and returning students. Applications submitted after March 31 will still be accepted, but placement is subject to availability.

A completed enrollment submission is to be done in person at your home school with the following documentation:

• Enrollment Form
• Age Verification (Birth Certificate or Passport)
• Proof of Residency (Current Utility Statement or Rental Agreement)
• Current Immunizations - Information on K-12 Immunization Guidelines

School staff will then email a Snap-Code to be used for the online enrollment process. The parent or guardian then completes the enrollment process online. Registration is not complete until the online portion is completed.

Once enrollment is submitted, PowerSchool, our online system, will automatically date and time-stamp your enrollment packet. This ensures we load classes fairly and equitably. The date and time stamp will be the order in which new students are accepted into classes at the home school.

For students in grades TK–5:
If there is no space available at the student's home boundary school, they may be overflowed to another school with available space.

Since staffing and class counts are finalized later in the school year, families will be notified of any overflow placement by the first week of June if their registration is completed by the deadline, March 31.

Class Sizes and Availability:
FCUSD opts into Class Size Reduction (CSR) funding for grades TK-3. This means:

• TK classes cannot go above 20 students
• Grades K-3 class sizes range from 24 to 28 students. Classes may not go over 28 students.
• The school must maintain a school-wide average of 24:1 in grades TK-3

Grade-level space is determined by class sizes, labor contract requirements, and physical space at the school. For example, the class size for 4th and 5th grade is set at 34 students per class, so the 35^th student to enroll would be overflowed to a neighboring school. 

District and school-site office staff will determine the overflow school for students by the first week of June if registration is completed by March 31. For registrations completed after March 31, families may be notified either within 5 days before the start of the school year or within 3 days of completing enrollment during the school year that space is not available.

2026-2027 Interdistrict Transfers 

Folsom Cordova is currently accepting incoming Interdistrict Transfer requests for the 2026-2027 school year. In order for a transfer request to be considered, the home school district's signature must be obtained, and all records must be submitted. These records include grades, attendance, and behavior reports, and IEP records if applicable.

Please note that, as of January 15, 2026, Vista del Lago High School and Folsom High School are not open to interdistrict transfers.

An Interdistrict transfer agreement is for parents/guardians who wish to register their student(s) at a school outside of their resident district. Below you will find information about transferring to and from FCUSD. Please see our related board policy.

On occasion, FCUSD will need to overflow students in grades TK-5. This occurs when a school is at maximum CSR capacity in grades TK-3, and/or the grade level is at contractual limit at the time of registration. 

• Priority:  Returning students, based on their seniority enrollment date, and their siblings have priority for re-enrollment if completed by the published deadlines. New students who complete registration first have preference for the remaining space at the school. Once a grade level is full or the school is at CSR capacity, overflow students are selected by their FCUSD seniority date.  
• Siblings:  FCUSD tries to keep siblings together during the overflow process. If FCUSD can keep the siblings together, they will be considered overflow students and will be bused to the receiving school. An effort is made before October 31 to bring siblings back to the home boundary school if space becomes available. 
• Transportation:  Transportation is provided free of charge from school to school for students who have been redirected to another school. The Home boundary school office staff will facilitate paperwork and give parents/guardians the bus route number, bus stop location, and pick-up time. Parents are asked to assist students so that they get on the bus at their home boundary school. 
  
  Returning Overflow Process
  FCUSD makes an effort to return overflowed students to the homeschool when space becomes available. Office staff will keep track of the redirected students and can update parents on the waitlist upon request. To ensure classroom stability, we do not call students back from overflow after October 31. If you’d like your student to return to their home boundary school after this date, please work with the school office staff to help you with this request. 
  
  Spots may open at the home boundary school due to attrition. The turnover of students during the school year can be difficult to predict. This timeframe could be a few days, weeks, months, or an indefinite period, depending on whether or not there is a drop in enrollment at your home school. 
  
  For impacted schools, students will be enrolled and loaded into classes for the following year based on the following:
  1. Returning students based on FCUSD seniority date who attended the school and enrolled by the March 31st deadline.
  2. Students who were overflowed from the school and completed their enrollment by the March 31st deadline.
  3. New students for the upcoming year by the time, date, and stamp.  

PowerSchool (PS) online registration will open on the first school day in March. Complete the PS online registration process by March 31. To do this, you will need your PowerSchool Parent Portal username and password. If you don’t know this information, contact your child’s school. 

• Students matriculating from an FCUSD school from 5th to 6th or from 8th to 9th are required to provide proof of residency (current utility statement or rental/escrow agreement)
• Current FCUSD students changing schools in the middle of the school year are required to provide proof of residency.

When registering a new student, the parent/guardian must complete a New Student Enrollment form and provide verification of age, residency, and immunization status to the home boundary school. A home boundary school is the school a student is assigned to based on the student’s home address. Find your home boundary school on the FCUSD website. 

Secondary enrollment is completed in person at your home boundary school.
Enrollment for new students in the district begins on March 2.

A student’s home address determines their home boundary school. Find your home boundary school on the FCUSD website.  When registering a new student, the parent/guardian must complete an Enrollment Form and provide proof of age, residency, and immunization status to the home boundary school. If a parent/guardian would like their student to attend a school that is not their home boundary school, they must complete a Choice Application at the time of enrollment. 

A completed enrollment submission includes the following:

• Enrollment Form
• Age Verification (Birth Certificate or Passport)
• Proof of Residency, i.e., Current Utility Statement or Rental Agreement
• Current Immunizations 

The site will date and time-stamp the Enrollment Form when all of the information above has been submitted. Available spots will be given to families in the order completed enrollment documentation is received.

School staff will email a Snap-Code to be used for the online enrollment process. The parent/guardian then completes the enrollment process online. If at any time you are disenrolled, the student’s seniority date will be readjusted to the new application date.

*Vista del Lago High School: There is limited space at Vista del Lago High School. Once Vista del Lago reaches capacity, students will be redirected to Folsom High School. Note - Acceptance into Vista del Lago does not guarantee a parking space.

IMPORTANT: Priority 3 students (students not currently enrolled in an FCUSD school, but residing within the Vista del Lago attendance area) are encouraged to indicate their intent to enroll by way of submitting a Google form, linked on the Vista del Lago website. This Google form begins taking submissions on February 2nd at 8:30 am. If it is determined that space is available to enroll priority 3 students, admission will be granted based on the date and time the Google form is submitted. Parents/guardians will be notified of admission in time for the New Student enrollment date of March 2nd.

• Enrollment opens: March 2 this year
• Priority deadline: March 31 (for both new and returning students)
• Enrollment submitted after March 31 will still be accepted
• Enrollment is accepted year-round at your home boundary school.

Required Documentation (to be submitted in person):

• Age Verification (Birth Certificate or Passport)
• Proof of Residency (Current Utility Bill or Rental Agreement)

• Most recent report card or transcript

After the documentation is submitted, school staff will provide you with a Snap-Code to access the online enrollment process. Parents/guardians must then complete the online portion.

Please note: Registration is not complete until both the in-person and online steps are finalized.

26-27 school year Elementary School Choice timeline: February 2- March 31, 2026. Applications will be available on this web page and at your home boundary school on February 2, 2026.

26-27 school year Secondary School Choice timeline: January 5, 2026 - February 2, 2026. Applications will be available on this web page and at your home boundary school on January 5, 2026.

If a parent/guardian would like their student to attend a school that is not their home boundary school, they must complete a choice application at the time of registration. 

Students who reside within the District's attendance area may apply for open enrollment in any District school, provided the school of choice has space available. Applications for intradistrict open enrollment shall be submitted between January - March (for secondary) and February - March (elementary) of the school year preceding the school year for which the transfer is requested. Any choice applications submitted after the deadline may be denied. A student who currently attends a school and resides within that school’s attendance area shall not be displaced by another student who transfers from outside the attendance area. 

School Choice Application forms are submitted to the homeschool during the registration period for the following school year. School Choice Applications submitted during the registration period will be considered at the same time and not on a first-come, first-served basis. If necessary, the determination of space availability will be selected through a random, unbiased process.      

School Choice applications are not for entrance to the following schools:

• Riverview STEM Academy
• Academy of Advanced Learning at Theodore Judah Elementary

Enrollment Priorities
These priorities apply during the district-established registration period:

Admission Requirements:

 1.   No student currently attending a school and residing within the school's attendance area shall be displaced by another student transferring from outside the attendance area (Education Code 35160.5), unless (s)he fails to register by the district-established deadline.
 2.  All students will register each year by the district-established deadline.

Admission to a given school will be determined by the following enrollment priorities:

Students who live in the school attendance area and are returning from inter-district transfer agreements

1. Returning students and siblings who currently reside within the school attendance area, as designated by the district database.
2. Students returning to neighborhood home school who enrolled during the previous school year, but were transferred to another school due to overcrowding (overflow).
3. Students who were attending another school on “Choice”, and who cannot now be accommodated at that school, and, additionally, in some cases, to receive (parent-requested) Special Education services.
4. Academy for Advanced Learning at Theodore Judah, Spanish Magnet at Folsom Hills, STEM Academy at Riverview, Montessori Program at Carl Sundahl, Special Education, Administratively placed, and Transitional English students. These students will be considered as mandated placement by the District, and need not live within the local school attendance area.
5. New students with legal residence within the neighborhood school attendance area.
6. Students attending identified Title I Program Improvement schools who have been notified by the district of their option to transfer to available spaces at other district non-identified schools, and have requested such placement (ESEA Title I Part A Section 116 (b) (1) (E).
7. Students continuing under an inter-district transfer agreement approved for five years by the Office of Attendance and Due Process, unless the student transfers to another school.

Intra-district agreement (Choice) students

8. Sandra J. Gallardo Elementary School only: students from The Shores and Quail Chase housing subdivisions have “priority choice”.
9. Students under an intra-district agreement (Choice) approved for the prior school year, and who remain at that school. Both the length of time attending a site on a “Choice” agreement and the placement of siblings together will be taken into account when possible.
10. Siblings of Transitional Kindergarten, Academy for Advanced Learning, and Spanish Magnet Programs.
11. Students with verified child care within the “Choice” school's attendance area.
12. New intra-district “Choice” students.

New out-of-district students (Inter-district Requests)

13. New inter-district applicant approved by the Office of Attendance and Due Process and the site-level administrator.

Parents/guardians may appeal in writing in the order below. Please include detailed information regarding your concerns and circumstances in the appeal. The decision by Education Services is final.

Independent Study Requests must be submitted at least 10 school days before the leave of absence. Office staff at your child's school will facilitate the Independent Study Agreement with you. 

If your student will be absent from school for a period of 3 -15 consecutive school days due to travel or another reason, please contact your student's school office at least 10 school days before the leave of absence to request an Independent Study Agreement.

Independent Study Duration: 3 days minimum – 15 days maximum per school year

Parents/guardians may appeal in writing in the order below. Please include detailed information regarding your concerns and circumstances in the appeal. The decision by Education Services is final.

FCUSD does not offer Independent Study during the first two weeks of instruction or the last two weeks of instruction. If you choose not to attend during the first two weeks, your student may be disenrolled after the 3rd day of instruction. Upon your return, you will have to re-enroll your student. Since the district will not hold spots for students not attending school, your student may be overflowed at that time. If at any time you are disenrolled, your child’s seniority date will readjust to your new application date. 

*The seniority of your enrollment status will be lost if you are disenrolled for non-attendance. When you re-enroll upon your return, this date will be your official enrollment date. 

*If your home-boundary school enrollment is impacted and you choose to keep your child out of school outside of the Independent Study guidelines, your student may be disenrolled per FCUSD Administrative Regulation 5111: Admission. 

• 3 days of absence with no contact/no show, on the 4th day of instruction, the student may be disenrolled. The student is still guaranteed a spot within the FCUSD, but not at the district's homeschool. Middle School and High School students may not get preferred classes. 
• 10 days of absence with contact made by parents, the student may be disenrolled on the 11th day of instruction. The student is still guaranteed a spot within the FCUSD, but not the district homeschool. Middle School and High School students may not get preferred classes.
