This is an exciting time for you and your child as you learn and prepare for becoming a student with Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS). EIPS is proud to offer a variety of pre-kindergarten programming and locations across the Division. EIPS offers two different pre-kindergarten options.
- Early Learners in Motion (ELM) Pre-K - New for 2026-27
- Play and Learn at School (PALS) Pre-K
Intake is now open for the 2026-27 school year!
After completing the intake process, EIPS staff will direct families on how to complete the registration process to ensure it's submitted for the correct program.
Early Learners in Motion (ELM) Pre-K
EIPS is launching its new ELM pre-kindergarten programming in the 2026-27 school year.
ELM is a fun, inclusive pre-kindergarten program for all learners, aged four to five years old, that blends early literacy, movement, music and play-based learning. The ELM approach encourages curiosity, creativity and social-emotional growth through hands-on, joyful experiences.
The ELM pre-kindergarten program is overseen by a certificated teacher and delivered by an early childhood educator and an educational assistant.
Play and Learn at School (PALS) Pre-K
PALS is a pre-kindergarten program for children who qualify for Program Unit Funding (PUF), such as those with communication delays, autism or social-emotional challenges. PALS Pre-K offers a fun, play-based environment where kids can learn and develop skills for future success. The program is personalized to each child's needs and strengths, and the team includes a certificated teacher, educational assistants and specialists. PALS Pre-K supports learners between the ages of two years, eight months and four years, seven months (by September 1 annually).

Pre-Kindergarten Intake - Now Open!
Interested in learning more about EIPS pre-kindergarten programs? Ready to submit your intake form for either ELM or PALS pre-kindergarten? Submit the 2026-27 Pre-Kindergarten Intake form and the EIPS team will get back to you with next steps. Program locations for both ELM and PALS pre-kindergarten programs may vary depending on interest and final registration numbers.

Pre-Kindergarten Registration - Opens February 1
Pre-Kindergarten registration for 2026-27 will open at 9 a.m. on Feb. 1, 2026.
Families must complete the pre-kindergarten intake process prior to submitting the registration form. After completing the intake process, EIPS staff will direct families on how to complete the registration form to ensure it's submitted for the correct program.
