Our food philosophy
Responsibility
A responsible approach to food is important to us. We work closely with Finnish food companies, and the fish products we use come from sustainable stocks and responsible sources. We prefer MSC- and ASC-certified products. We actively minimize food waste and the use of disposable materials. We are part of the ‘Steps to Organic’ program and are continuously increasing the share of organic products in our offering. All of this is part of our comprehensive commitment to responsible food production.
Locally sourced ingredients
We prefer locally produced ingredients, and for example, most of the meat and dairy products we use are of Finnish origin. We collaborate with many Finnish food companies. We also offer rainbow trout from Åland. The level of domestic and in-house food production on board is 80 %.
Food made on board
We are committed to preparing food from scratch. We believe that the best food is made on site, in the ship’s own kitchen, by skilled staff using high-quality ingredients.
Seasonality
The Buffet Eckerö menu changes with the seasons five times a year. The menus reflect seasonal thinking in the use of vegetables, berries, as well as fish and meat products. For example, in autumn, ingredients such as mushrooms, berries, and game are widely used.
