New Amazon Fire TV Stick is a cheaper way to watch in ultra HD
The Fire TV Stick 4K Select is available to pre-order
If your existing Fire TV Stick is showing its age, there's a new device that's worth taking a look at.
Amazon has recently unveiled a streaming device dubbed the Fire TV Stick 4K Select, providing a more affordable route to enjoying content in crystal-clear ultra HD resolution.
This 4K streaming gadget retails for £49.99 in Britain and is available to pre-order here ahead of its October 15 release date.
If you can't wait that long for a new Fire TV Stick or your budget is more restricted, the Amazon Fire TV Stick HD (newest gen) is currently priced at £19.99 on Amazon, down from £39.99.
Alternatively, there's also the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (newest gen) here currently reduced from £59.99 to £25.99. Or you could ditch Amazon and go for a Roku Stick 4k Streaming Stick Media Player retailing for £49.99 at Argos or the Google TV Streamer 4k retailing for £99.99.
Unfortunately for British Fire enthusiasts, the new Select 4k doesn't match its American pricing, where consumers need only pay $39.99 (£29.99) to purchase one. That said, even at £49.99, the 4K Select variant is cheaper than the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max, priced at £69.99.
Even within the UK market, the Select remains a more economical choice for those seeking to experience programmes and films in exceptional picture quality, according to the Express.
Additional capabilities within this gadget encompass a rapid 1.7GHz processor, voice search through Alexa and complete access to all the leading streaming applications including Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+.
The remote even features dedicated buttons that will open applications with a single press.
Amazon's description of the product reads as follows: "Our newest Fire TV Stick, the 4K Select, helps you maximise every pixel of your 4K TVs at an incredible value.
"It delivers vibrant 4K picture quality with HDR10+ support and apps that launch remarkably fast. The performance comes from our new operating system, Vega, which is responsive and highly efficient."
Alongside the fresh Fire TV Stick, Amazon has also updated its television range. Amazon has unveiled a series of updates to its Omni series, 4-series and budget 2-series.
The new models boast an updated design, automatic switch-on when you enter the room, and enhanced visuals. The Omni even adjusts the screen image to suit the room's environment.
But it's not just televisions that Amazon is updating. The tech giant is also launching revamped Echo speakers, a new Kindle Scribe with a colour screen, and an improved Ring doorbell boasting 4K recording capabilities.
