Squarebots: Tiny World Rescue!
A match 3x3 Puzzle Game (GDTV '25 gamejam entry). Match the blocks in groups of at least 3x3 squares to rescue your tiny robot buddies! An homage to the 1993 classic (sadly apparently largely forgotten) MS-DOS puzzle game 'Squarez Deluxe'. I took it, shook it up, simplified it and juiced it with some spectacular particle effects! I'm amazed at what the original dev achieved with his game.
A departure from my usual action based shooters - but completely from scratch made in 40-50 hours. Out of 1030 submissions, the game landed at number 20 in the 'fun' category so in the top ~2% of submissions. I'm glad a new audience could experience something similar to the old Squarez game. Check it out!
Dimensional Survivors 3D!
A 3D Vampire Survivors style FPS (GDTV '23 gamejam entry). Can you defeat 1,000 enemies before they turn into indestructible blob of angriness? Like VS, you only directly control movement and not the attacks. Unlike VS, this was made in a couple of days, but I think it's still a fun way to while away 10 minutes.
My first 3D game and first FPS - it is based on Unity's FPS Starter pack - but heavily customised to allow upgrade mechanics such as TRIPLE-wielding and huge numbers of enemies and pickups using object-pooling. Landed in the top 8% of submissions in the 'fun' category, I was happy given my limited time for this one and FPS games aren't everyone's gamejam cup of tea.
Lost in the Stars
Fast-paced yet relaxing twin-stick 2D shooter (GDTV '22 gamejam entry). Three levels of increasing size and difficulty, but increasing potential for your ship's firepower. Clearable in 10-15 mins depending on how relaxed you want to be - probably can be speedrunned in under 5.
This one finished in the top few percent of the game jam ratings for 'fun', given the quality of GDTV entries was a pleasant surprise. Thank you all again for all the feedback.
The Catacombs of Venice
A real-time twin-stick 2D dungeon crawler (GDTV '21 gamejam entry). Light your way through the darkness using your mouse pointer as a torch. Loot all the chests. And turn your enemies in pin-cushions.
Using the Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup tileset as a solution for the art, I built a little real-time crawler. I have follower AI and advanced lighting in newer prototypes and I'd like to expand this into a full RPG in future. This one came 12th overall in the gamejam, though this was when GDTV got a hundred submissions rather than the thousand-plus it gets nowadays!
