For me like many others - being in the "scene" meets my needs on multiple levels.
Sure it's about control but go deeper, beyond the word and into its real meaning specifically for me - I am allowing myself to trust another enough to become vulnerable to him or her and be in their control. To be protected by them - meaning to keep me safe from going too far past my limitations, to be true to the boundaries we've set and of course to hurt me but not harm me.
To take control of me during a session means that you are in effect "freeing" me from the mental and emotional ties of having to be in control of my life and the situations around me all day long. Its my opportunity to turn the keys over to someone else for a period of time - to a trusted soul.
It also allows me to be free from any internal pain as you bring pain to me externally - it wipes the slate clean of any guilt that I may be carrying and it just releases me as I allow myself to feel what it is that you bring to me - get lost in the sense of being ultimately alive and lose myself in your power over me.
As you can probably tell - if you are a Dom or Domme - you hold great power and don't forget - GREAT responsibility over your sub. Consensual and Safe is only a small part of it. Treasure what you have.
