The following was written by DantesV here on CM, but I really like the message, so credit where due and here it is:
Never adopt anothers passion as your own until you too share that passion. And don't say you do share it when you do not. To do so undermines the simple truth that to serve as slave is to evolve to live your life according to the needs and desires of another. It is you who have come to him, who knelt and offered devotion and adoration and it is you who must ultimately prove yourself to him.
And whilst you may learn many things at his hand, learning is not enough. He teaches you so that you can better serve him, better know and understand him and, ultimately, bring yourself closer to him. And yes, he expects that you display curiosity and hunger in gaining this knowledge, because this is the man you seek to serve; your passion and hunger for knowledge regarding him should be insatiable.
But that is not enough.
Because we are not defined by our passions or fantasies, no more than we are by our secrets and our shames. We are defined by action, by what we do with those things. This counts for us just as it does for another.
Without the strength and courage to at least try to put what you know to use, it has so little worth you may as well have not learned it in the first place.
Because remember what you are and what you come to him as slave. He is your world and in your heart and soul, the sun rises and sets with him.
As such, you must have no purpose and no reason to draw breath greater than the man you kneel before and offer yourself to. If you do, then you came to the wrong place when you offered yourself to him.
