The Cambridge Conservation Initiative (CCI) is a unique partnership between the University of Cambridge and ten leading international conservation organisations, working together to address the most urgent challenges facing life on Earth.
From our base in the David Attenborough Building – the world’s largest concentration of conservation expertise – we foster collaborations between scientists, practitioners, policymakers, and communities.
CCI was founded in 2007 on the understanding that biodiversity loss cannot be reversed through isolated action. Addressing the most urgent challenges facing life on Earth requires deep, sustained collaboration across disciplines, sectors, and cultures.
Through extensive global networks, strong local partnerships, and a long-standing commitment to training and capacity building, we empower people and organisations worldwide to deliver effective, lasting conservation.
The collaborations we enable inform biodiversity policy, restore ecosystems, recover threatened species, and advance equitable approaches to nature recovery. Our initiatives are grounded in evidence, shaped by diverse perspectives, and strengthened through inclusive dialogue.
Together, we are building hope – and the skills to sustain it – for the future.
