Food and atmosphere were a 10/10! Would definitely return :)
I came in with expectations and left completely floored. The star of the show here is undeniably the prawn broth rich, intensely sweet, and so deeply flavoured you can tell it's been coaxed over hours. It's the kind of broth that makes you pause mid-sip just to appreciate what you're eating.
I went with the Prawn & Lala Kway Teow Soup silky flat noodles swimming in that gorgeous amber broth, with fresh clams that added a lovely brininess to every bite. My partner had the Prawn & Ribs, which came in its own claypot, the pork falling apart beautifully against that punchy, prawn-forward base.
One of my favourite chicken wing rice, always comforting and satisfying. The wings are fried crisp and golden, skin light and crunchy while the meat inside stays juicy and tender with savoury depth from the marinade. Paired with fragrant chicken rice, it makes for a hearty meal that I keep coming back to. The chilli dip adds a sharp kick that ties everything together and it has become one of my late night choices for a sinful supper, affordable and consistently good ใ$4
The sambal stingray arrives on a sizzling hot plate with a smoky and spicy aroma. The flesh is tender and juicy, thick enough to feel substantial yet soft enough to pull apart with ease. Sambal brings bold fragrance and a fiery kick, a little salty but especially satisfying when paired with rice ใ$15 / Medium
Recently visited One Prawn & Co and got their Mentaiko Bomb Tots and Holy Halibut Burger!
The Bomb Tots were so crispy and also addicting - once you start biting you really cannot stop and before you know it the bowl is emptyโฆ it really is so flavourful and so good!! Was really tempted to get a second bowl
The halibut burger was huge! Like it was a MASSIVE burger but it was so incredibly well balanced, and the fish was citrusy and light and just an insanely well crafted burger.
Shoutout to their drinks menu! They really have a lot of super interesting options and we really wanted to try everything
WE WILL BE BACK
One of my favourite Korean lunch spots at Tanjong Pagar! The Spicy Soft Tofu Stew ($10) and Kimchi Stew ($10) are super flavourful and come with a generous amount of ingredients. I like that the kimchi stew is not too sour as well. Great value for money!
Revisited Hup Kee after years and the queue is still as long as before. Managed to get my bowls but by just past 11am only fishballs were left. Their mee kia was thinner and curly, springy without the strong alkaline taste, tossed in dark sauce with shallot oil, fried shallot and plenty of lard for that shiok and sinful flavour. The handmade fishballs were firm yet bouncy, clean in texture and paired best with the belacan chilli which gave a spicy lift. The flavours remain familiar and satisfying, something I would go for if I am already around the hood though I would reconsider making a special trip just for the queue ใ$5 (Regular) / $6.50 (Large)
($5.35) i wanted to try first but then decided to get later. Its just hashbrown w mushroom topped w cheese sauce.
($5.60) i did tried b4 for sausage version but then i preferred over sausage over chicken one.
($4.90) consisted of peach gum + snow fungus + ruby goji berries. Its quite interesting and w not that sweet osmanthu oolong tea.
