Overview map of the Buckeye Trail with key landmarks like cities and freeways.

Explore the Buckeye Trail with official digital and paper maps, maintained by Buckeye Trail Association volunteers

The Buckeye Trail Association (BTA) offers both digital maps for your phone and paper maps for your pack. Paper maps are available individually by Section or in a full set from the Buckeye Trail Shop.

Digital maps make it easy to pinpoint your location on the trail without cell service, and your one-time purchase includes free updates whenever the route changes. Paper maps provide a dependable, battery-free option and are the perfect backup for any adventure.

Sections and Points

The Buckeye Trail is divided into 26 different Sections, each named after a town or feature along the route. Each Section is further divided into smaller Segments, generally around 30 total, with numbered Points marking the beginning of each Segment. This system makes it easy to plan hikes of any length and track your progress along the trail.

Check for Map Updates and Trail Alerts

Because the trail is continually improving, some printed maps may have outdated information. Map Updates indicate permanent changes from the latest map edition and generally remain posted for about one year after new editions are printed. Trail Alerts indicate temporary disruptions to the route, such as closures from storm damage or construction. Alerts are posted until the trail reopens. Always check the BTA website for the latest Map Updates and Trail Alerts before your trip.
