What is BSLI?

BSLI is a student-run organization that designs, builds, and launches rockets through programs such as the NASA Student Launch Initiative, the International Rocket Engineering Competition, and Liquid Rocket Systems. We are a multidisciplinary team of passionate students from a wide range of fields, collaborating to bring ambitious aerospace projects to life.

Our Teams

All BSLI project teams meet in the College of Engineering Makerspace, located in Bolz Hall.
Meeting times can be found below, underneath each team description.

NASA Student Launch Initiative (NASA)

NASA SLI is a research-based, competitive, experiential exploration project striving to provide relevant research through payload components to support the development of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) program.

Meeting Times

Tuesdays: 6-8 pm
Sundays: 3-5 pm

International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC)

This team competes at the International Rocket Engineering Competition, hosted annually in Texas. BSLI competes in the 30k Student Research and Developed (SRAD) category.

Meeting Times

Wednesdays: 7-9 pm
Sundays: 1-3 pm

Liquid Rocket Systems (Liquids)

Liquid Rocket Systems develops powerful liquid rocket engines. The team is currently working on our second engine, Prometheus, and our launch vehicle, Amadeus.

Thursdays: 6-8 pm
Sundays: 4-6 pm
