Meet Umo, the easy way to pay your BC Transit fare.

Umo allows you to select the best payment method for your lifestyle and travel habits.

It’s your choice how you use Umo – mobile app or reloadable card.

Every rider must carry their own payment method and may choose between:

  1. Downloading the Umo Mobility app, or
  2. Picking up a reloadable card for free from a BC Transit vendor

Start using Umo

Download UMO app on the App Store
Get the UMO on Google Play

Then, buy a pass or load cash through the app, online at ca.umopass.com, at a vendor location, or through Umo’s customer service toll-free at 877-380-8181.

When you are ready to travel, get your payment method ready prior to stepping on the bus and look for the onboard validator near the driver. Scan the app’s QR code or tap your Umo card at the validator and look for the validator’s confirmation message. You’ll know your fare was accepted when you see and hear the validation check mark and audible signal.

How to Use the Umo Validator

Look for the validator near the driver and follow these steps to pay or validate your pass or Umo fare product.

Using the Umo App

  1. Open the app and select “Show Code” to display your QR code.
  2. Scan your QR code at the front of the validator. Slowly pull your phone back until the scanner reads the code.
  3. Wait for the signal to confirm your fare is accepted.

Using your Umo Card

  1. Tap your card on the base of the validator.
  2. Listen for the beep and check the screen for a green check mark.

What the Validator Display Means

When you use a digital payment method, the validator displays a response screen to let you know what’s happening.
