Ex-Nixon official: 'This is moving towards Watergate'

A White House official in the Nixon, Ford and Reagan administrations has said there is "a sense" the controversy surrounding President Trump is "moving in the direction" of the 1974 Watergate scandal.

Speaking on the Today programme, Stefan Halper also questioned the coherence and focus of the leadership.

"People who are briefing President Trump say he has a short attention span. They’ve taken to including his name in each paragraph so he is drawn to continue reading the memoranda," he said.
