As a practicing astrologer, I know how absolutely important birth information is; how I can't generate any charts without my chart file.
And over the decades of working with thousands of astrologers, it still puzzles me that most astrologers don't back up their chart files regularly.
I get dozens of emails every year from those who have lost their precious data. (And serious data recovery can cost thousands of dollars and doesn't always work.)
If your computer gets a virus or malware, or crashes, or gets hijacked for ransom, all of your painstakingly entered charts will be gone.
All that you need to do is copy the file(s) in your charts folder to a flash drive once a month. To be extra careful, have two flash drives and alternate them every other month.
That's all.
Some astrology programs make it easier to do from within the program than others, but you can also just copy the chart file(s) yourself using Explorer which is built into Windows.
