I bought this boxed set around 50 years ago and I loved it. It was stolen sometime around 1969. I was unable to find another one after looking for years. Finally, a re-issue and seemingly identical to the original. Enjoy!

Music selection is ok (but not that great) but I sonics are far from "High Fidelity"

This influential compilation of American roots music from the urban folk music revival, originally released in 1964 by Elektra and Folkways, was out of print for years. Virtually all the prominent revivalist acts of that era (with the exception of Dylan and Baez, who were contractually unavailable) are on this set. Kudos to Rhino Records for bringing The Folk Box back. Listening to this set in its original format (vinyl) brings back memories of that historical juncture when folk was giving way to rock.

Incredible selection of early folk blues... alas sound is terrible. I'm no expert, but I'm guessing they put way too much noise reduction so it all sounds pretty flat
