Consultation and Visualisation

ADI visualised and proposed a number of options with varying screen sizes for the client. Once decided, ADI took charge of designing and manufacturing the bespoke frame, which was constructed using galvanised steel. It was delivered to site in two pieces to enable it to fit through the access doors.

After bolting the structure together on the floor in the centre of the arena, ADI populated the frame with all four screens and then added the bespoke cladding. The screen was then lifted above the venue into its regular position. The venue are able to change the height of the screen cube when required by using the four-pulley hoist system that ADI have installed.

ADI are synonymous with football stadium LED screens, but this is the first ice arena we have installed. It’s exactly the kind of bespoke solution that we specialise in – our customers appreciate that we are able to firstly work with them to design a solution and then take ownership of every aspect of the construction, installation and delivery.

The new screen cube looks fantastic, and we’re excited to see how Braehead Arena add to the atmosphere, not only at the ice hockey but for the many other events that the Arena hosts throughout the year.

Turn-key Displays Solution

ADI provided a complete turn-key solution for the project, which required the design and construction of a four-sided structure to accommodate the four screens.

The structure is rectangular in shape, with larger screens (15m2) on the wider sides and smaller screens (8m2) facing the goals, echoing the shape of the venue beneath. Each side is angled downwards to ensure optimum viewing angles for viewers and includes full cladding to create a solid structure.

MT Series LED Tile from ADI

Next Generation LED Product

The LED screens all use ADI’s proprietary MT Range – a lightweight and slimline product with a range of features to drive impressive energy efficiencies, performance, reliability, and sustainability over product lifespan.

The panels are 50% lighter and slimmer than ADI’s previous product, giving the ability to incorporate unique digital platforms in complex and challenging spaces, such as the quad-screen because of the reduction in large, heavy and costly supporting steelwork.

The Arena opted for the MT5; a fine pitch screen with a 5mm resolution that delivers exceptional levels of clarity and contrast.

Content Solution for multiple uses

ADI have also supplied a complete content management system. This allows the venue to easily switch between types of content usage that different events require.

The solution also includes a scoreboard software platform designed specifically for ice hockey usage.
