Everybody Lives for Something or Someone

Everybody Lives for Something or Someone

Through Jesus, we’ve seen marriages reconciled, families strengthened, and lives changed in dramatic ways. That’s a big part of why everything we do is with the goal of leading people to live for Jesus Christ.

What We Are About

Everyone Lives For Something…

We believe that living for Jesus Christ is the most meaningful way to live. That’s why our overall mission is “Leading People to Live for Jesus Christ” Philippians 1:21

How We Do It

At 121 , we worship God, do life together, serve others, and walk in the example set by Jesus Christ. (1 John 2:6)

What We Believe

Biblical Authority & Elders

This church accepts the Christian Bible (“the Bible,” “Scripture” or “the Scriptures”) as the revealed Word of God, all sufficient rule of faith and practice, and for the purpose of maintaining general unity. This Church accepts the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the inspired record of God’s revelatory actions in human history and as the authoritative basis for its doctrine and practice. Though the various theological statements of this church reflect succinct summaries of biblical boundaries, it is the Bible itself to which we are in ultimate submission.

The Elders, as the highest ecclesiastical authority of this church, shall function as the interpretive authority on biblical meaning and application for the purpose of church doctrine, practice, policy and discipline.

What We Believe

There is one God who eternally exists as three Persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and is the Sovereign Creator of all things (Genesis 1:1).

God is the final authority as revealed in His perfect, trustworthy, and inspired Word, which unfolds His character and His purposes (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Everyone and everything has been made by God and for God and therefore all glory belongs to Him (Colossians 1:15-20).

God uniquely created humanity in His own image (Genesis 1:27).

The world is fallen, and all humanity is separated from God because of sin (Genesis 3:1-24; Romans 3:23).

Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, born of a virgin, simultaneously fully God and fully man, sinless and absolutely perfect (Matthew 1:18-25).

Jesus Christ died on the cross, rose from the dead, appeared to many, and ascended to heaven (1 Corinthians 15:1-8).

Salvation comes by grace, through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross plus nothing on the part of humanity (Ephesians 2:1-10).

The Holy Spirit convicts of sin, seals at conversion, gifts, guides, and empowers the believer and the church (John 16:5-15; Ephesians 1:13; Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11).

The church is the body of Christ, with Christ as the Head, and functions to fulfill the mission of God (1 Corinthians 12:12-31).

Jesus will return, and there will be a final judgment (Matthew 24:1-51, 25:1-46).

All people who have faith in Jesus Christ will spend eternity with God in His Kingdom, and all people who do not have faith in Jesus Christ will spend eternity in hell (Matthew 25:1-46; John 5:24; Revelation 20:11-15).

Ordinances

This Church shall baptize any person who has received Jesus Christ as Savior by personal faith. We encourage people to be baptized as soon as possible after they believe. We practice baptism by immersion in water. Baptism is not necessary for salvation, but rather an act of obedience.

The Church shall regularly observe the Lord’s Supper and encourages only believers to take the Lord’s Supper.

Cultural Topics

Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen. 1:26-27). Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

We believe the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Gen. 2:18-25). We believe that marriage between one man and one woman, for life, uniquely reflects Christ’s relationship with His Church (Eph. 5:21-33). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Cor. 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4). We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.

We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including but not limited to adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, or use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (Matt. 15:18-20; 1 Cor. 6:9-10).

We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of this church as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to church members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by this church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality (Matt 5:16; Phil 2:14-16; 1 Thess. 5:22).

We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor 6:9-11).

We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31).

Sanctity of Human Life

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Ps. 139.)

Our History

In The Beginning

121 Community Church started in the fall of 1999 when a group of 23 people gathered for the first time after much prayer and conversation. They firmly believed that this was God’s idea, and boldly acted upon that belief.

Over The Years

We are purposeful about reaching out to those who do not know Christ, who have been disconnected from church for years, or who have been stagnant in their faith. We are a community with Christ at the center, under the authority of His Word.

A place where people’s lives have been transformed; allowing us to tackle personal challenges and understanding our significance within His plan. And we are a church where children, students, and adults daily seek God in His Word; authentically invest in one another through LifeGroups, worship in freedom, serve others, and communicate the story of Christ locally, nationally, and globally.

In 2019, we celebrated 20 years as a church focused on transforming lives. It is with great anticipation and excitement that we move into our next five years together with ‘Vision 2025’, as we continue seeking to lead people to live for Jesus Christ!
