WunderType for Mac

WunderType is a lightweight menu-bar companion that fixes and rewrites your writing in any app on your Mac. Select some text, press ⌘⇧G, and it's replaced in place — grammar corrected, tone adjusted, done. No copy-pasting into a chatbot, no switching windows.

It works virtually everywhere the macOS Accessibility API can read a selection: Mail, Slack, Notes, Pages, Safari, Chrome, VS Code, and almost every other native or browser app.

Choose how the AI runs — and switch any time:

• On-Device (recommended) — runs directly on your Mac's GPU via Apple's MLX framework. No install, no API key, no account, fully offline after a one-time model download. Pick from four models (Gemma 3 1B, Granite 2B, Phi-4 Mini, Gemma 3 4B). Requires Apple Silicon.
• Ollama — free, open-source, 100% local. Traffic never leaves localhost.
• OpenAI — bring your own key for frontier models (GPT-4.1, GPT-4o). Direct request, no middleman.
• OpenRouter — hundreds of models (Claude, Gemini, Llama, Mistral) through one key.

Private by desing

• No accounts, no sign-up, no telemetry.
• With On-Device or Ollama, your text never leaves your Mac.
• API keys are stored encrypted in the macOS Keychain — never in plain text, never synced by us.
• Sandboxed menu-bar app (~20 MB) with no background daemons — it only wakes when you press a shortcut.
