About the World Seafood Congress
The World Seafood Congress (WSC) brings together global seafood trade leaders, policymakers, and experts to explore the latest innovations, sustainability practices, and emerging trends impacting on safe sustainable seafood trade. Organized by the International Association of Fish Inspectors (IAFI)—a globally recognized NGO affiliated with the United Nations—WSC sets new benchmarks for global seafood trade, fostering collaboration, innovation, and progress.
The World Seafood Congress 2026 will provide a platform for in-depth discussions and the latest developments on the future of the global seafood industry, and will help create awareness and promote best practices in fishery and aquaculture sector safety, equity and sustainability in trade”.
The event will also create awareness and promote best practices in inspection methodologies, sustainability, and trade activities relevant to the global seafood industry and the IAFI network. Expected participants include industry, regulators, policymakers, academia, researchers, NGOs, supply chain stakeholders, logistics and trade.
Since its inception, the World Seafood Congress has been hosted by countries renowned for their contributions to the seafood industry, including the USA, Canada, the UK, Iceland, Malaysia, and Portugal. In 2026, for the first time, this distinguished event will be held in India, hosted by PDA Ventures Private Limited, a leading professional trade show and conference organising company based in Bangalore.
Grant Support for Attendance for Young Professionals - the IAFI Peter Howgate Award
The IAFI Peter Howgate Award is a tribute to the late Peter Howgate's work and career and a recognition of his immense and ongoing contribution to the field of fish technology and the people who work in it, both during his 35 years at the UK’s Torry Research Station and thereafter. The award was set up by fish technology professionals around the world, with the help of the Seafood HACCP Discussion List community, and was adopted by IAFI in 2014. We look forward to meeting the successful applicant at WSC 2026.
