We Were Made for This
A poem for you & next "Write Yourself Free" date
What I really need is to drink a glass of water slowly because there is enough—there is enough fast in this world. And every real thing is found inside the soft arms of a moment. And because, in the midst of so much trauma and terror, it is vital to bow to such holy, ordinary things.
Dear you,
I know you are tired. Me too. Please know that I am sending you love in the midst of so much trauma & terror. There is so much that feels unbearably hard right now.
And still. There is this—the soft arms of this very moment where we can bow to the holy, ordinary things, to each other. This is what is keeping me sane right now.
We are in this together. It is such comfort to feel your heart on the other side of this screen.
I send you an abundance of warmth & love,
Julia xo
We Were Made for This
I want to fill this space with words that will erase the distance between your certainty and mine make room under the big, empty sky for grace to sit, move closer until skin touches skin, eyes see eyes. Maybe we can take a good, deep breath, clear body and mind of all that’s come before. Promise to pay attention, to stay— especially when it hurts. Maybe this time we will see that it has nothing to do with who we’ve been or who we think we are and everything to do with being fiercely here— like breath is for life. Yes, like that. Maybe—perhaps, we can begin and begin again with—I don’t know. See that it takes just one step toward to erase the distance that was only ever a thought. Dinner is on the stove, will you join me?
Our next Write Yourself Free class (for paid subscribers) will be on Tuesday, January 20th from 4:00—6:00 pm (PST).

This will be a time of quiet connectedness in the midst of so, so much noise. A nest of tenderness where all of you is allowed.

"erase the distance
that was only ever a thought."
This poem is so achingly beautiful, Julia. Thank you for being a light in a world that desperately needs our light, our love, our compassion.
I needed this. Thank you! Making a note to myself to come back to order your book!
