Exhausted…

There are just no words. Between the time change and gloom and doom of the weather I’m done for! I just got my articles in for the paper though so tomorrow night is my evening to pack and get ready to go. Not going to take a lot this time. We did watch a new Christmas movie tonight from one of the weekends so I can report on that as soon as I finish watching the one I started the other day. I think that will catch me up, so far!

Anyway, let’s just do the prompts and then I can, maybe, finish this movie!

Being present for today is kind of an odd one. A heartwarming story behind an everyday item in a kitchen drawer… I can talk about an everyday item in a kitchen cupboard… they are my great-grandmother’s metal measuring cups. The ones she baked with for so many years I can’t count. I used to help her. I used to also get to either eat chocolate chips out of the 1/4 cup or it would hold sugar for me to dip my fresh-from-the-garden rhubarb into to make it a little less bitter. Now that I have such a big kitchen, I actually want to bake again!

Getting through dark nights… well, we’re just on day four of that and it’s already feeling really old. It’s hard to believe it will be dark by the time I pull in Friday night. Anyway… At-home routines that make you happy… coming home from work, having supper, then sitting down to write, or whatever before TV shows come on or while I’m watching a Christmas movie or TV show. Getting ready for bed early so I can read my book.

Okay, one more night covered off. How are you doing with these calendars if you decided to do them?

Phew… I pulled it off…

Today was Larry’s birthday and I had pulled together my mom and dad with pizza and cake for him without him knowing. Lucky for me he wasn’t sitting in the living room watching tonight, he was in the sunroom talking to his son! So it was great when I told him to come out and get something to eat and my mom and dad are standing there going “Happy Birthday” from the laundry room door! Perfection!

Anyway, I’m exhausted now though so onto our prompts…

Being present for today is The first positive thing that comes to mind after a big, deep breath… I’m home, I pulled off a birthday surprise and I’m not on-call tonight!

Positivity for the dark nights for today is What is beautiful about a crisp night’s sky?… I think the thing about the crispness is that usually the sky is clear. That means sunsets before it gets dark and then the stars and, tonight and tomorrow night, the full moon high in the sky!

Okay, so I’m going to go, I have other things to do including my articles for the paper.

Later!

Time Flies

When you’re at work trying to accomplish a long list of things, time flies. And then more gets added to the plate! One thing I can say is I’m glad I’m not on-call this week so I can get some real rest… if Tigger will let me!

Anyway, TV night and I’ve already posted about some of the new Christmas movies I got watched yesterday. I’m exhausted… mostly thanks to the time change yesterday. It’s the body asking why I’m going to bed “an hour later” and especially why I’m getting up “an hour earlier”. Plus I’m still trying to catch up on sleep from staying up for baseball games then getting up and going to work.

Let’s move on to the prompts.

Being present for today is Things that make you feel warm and cozy right now… sweaters, fuzzy socks, my big grey blanket that Tigger likes to cuddle, staying home, plus we have a gas fireplace in the living room that makes it extra cozy. Curling up with a book and a cup of hot chocolate and, most of all… all the Christmas movies!

Getting through the dark nights for today is Some one/thing that has been a constant source of comfort all year… I’ve had a couple of constants, the biggest one being Larry, of course, then my daughter and parents. I’d like to say the trailer but that hasn’t been all year.

I guess that’s it for today. Time to go start the dishwasher, curl up and see what I can watch for an hour before Finding Mr. Christmas starts at 8:00.

Heartbroken…

And that doesn’t even come close to how I feel today. My heart is broken. My mind is frustrated and overwhelmed… and exhausted. The Toronto Blue Jays lost in extra innings. Yes, I can lay blame in a number of places starting with poor decisions but I’m not doing that here. I do have the day to do whatever I want to do today and I’m not going to say what that’s going to include. Some self-care, that’s for sure!

Our November 2nd prompts are:

Being Present is The most beautiful thing you can see out of the nearest window… that was better answered last night but, I don’t know about you, the sun is shining which, on a November day is beautiful!

Getting through the dark nights is A part of your personality you want to show more of… that’s kind of an odd one! I’m at an age where I just am who I am… I don’t make things up. I may not curse a blue streak at work but I think that’s self-preservation! I want to show more of my creative side and my faith side. Maybe combine the two together but I’m still waiting on the message I need on how to do exactly that.

One thing I’m going to do today is edit my Blue Jays article for the Goderich Sun since there wasn’t enough room to print it. This time I’ll include the results. Eventually my brain will be able to acknowledge that it brought together and entire nation and even some US states! It proved that we stand together as a single country with fire in our hearts! But for right now, I’m going back to brooding for a while!

November!

And 53 days until Christmas! I can start counting down because it’s November 1st. Except Remembrance Day comes first!

The day was better than last week. I sold four of the Benji and Blue books, two Haven of Secrets and one of the copies of Love Wins that I had bought extra in 2022. MUCH better! Wished I’d sold more of the Benji and Blue sets but maybe before Christmas still.

On to the new calendars! We have Being Present Journaling for November and Positivity Journaling for Getting Through the Dark Nights.

So let’s go!

Getting through the dark nights prompt for today is Someone you could check in with to make them feel less alone… I always check in with my daughter and I think of an amazing friend who is alone where she is and I hope I can see her soon!

Being present prompt for today is What makes you smile in the room you’re in right now… the size of the kitchen! Not that I call myself an amazing cook by any means, but it’s nice to have more than a 2 x 4 space to prepare in and I might, might, consider doing some Christmas baking!

That’s that for today… what are your answers?

The one thing I have to say, which ruins it for tomorrow but the answer will probably be different is the large living room window. The sun is starting its descent and is lighting up the red leaves on the tree on the lawn. I even snapped a pic! Enjoy!

Happy Halloween!

Was today spooky enough for you? It was fun where I was! I got to work and changed into my Cinderella costume and all day. We paraded through the halls where we handed out candy to residents IN their rooms! Anyway, it’s a very short few minutes until first pitch so lets just do what we need to do for the last time this month!

People in your life for today is Someone whose stories you’d never tire of listening too… oh my… well, it’s too late now to list most of those people really. Nana, grandma, gramma and grampa… you just don’t realize it until you’re older.

Making the most of the rest of the year for today is Somewhere to put the mementos, photos and videos of the year… I guess I kind of eluded to that yesterday when I said that I could get all my photos printed and put into the album… and maybe even a couple on the walls! You just never know.

New calendars start tomorrow but I am at Sunset Golf Course tomorrow selling my books. Say some prayers for me that they sell, sell, sell!

One More Win!

That works on two levels! We got one more win last night and we need one more win! It was an exciting game, one I stayed up for. But I’m paying for it!

In two days I will be finished at my second Holiday Market so here’s hoping…

I’ll get straight to the prompts since it’s catch-up-on-TV night, for the most part.

The People in your life prompt for today is Someone you travelled with and where… Other than my honeymoon I haven’t left the country, or even the province. So the places I’ve travelled to, other than that, has been Wasaga Beach, “Bug” Lake, Algonquin Park, Bayfield, Niagara Falls, Goderich and then, of course, our trips to Meaford and Thornbury. Mostly I’ve travelled with one or both of my parents, my daughter and/or Larry. There are other places, naturally.

The Making the most of the rest of this year prompt for today is Something creative you could do… Well, there’s something right up my alley! I could write another book, or at least start! I could also get out there with my camera or just get all this year’s pictures printed and add them to our album.

We WIN!

One more win for the Blue Jays! The series is tied at two and the game starts in an hour! I’m so excited!

I’m going to jump straight to the prompts!

People in your life for today is Someone who was/is always their true self, no matter what… me, for starters. I decided that I’m too old to put on a front. What you see is what you get at this point and I’m too experienced to care what other people think anymore! But my mom is that way and so is Larry.

Making the most of the rest of this year for today is Ways to not let an ordinary day pass you by… well that’s sometimes a challenge! Ordinary days… what are those? I have to ask because, honestly, my work days are not ordinary. As for a day that’s supposed to be ordinary… like what this Sunday should be… I will relish in not having to go anywhere or even lift my tush off the couch! It will go by but it won’t pass me by because I will do something that will make it not ordinary!

But, since it’s been a long week at work so far, busy and we’re getting somewhere now, but long, I’m going to sign off. There are a few other things I’d like to do!

Still working!

Phew… it’s nice to come home and have INTERNET and TV! Days are busier with my new sidekick and lots to accomplish. We had my first Town Hall today and it went pretty well… at least I thought it did. Hopefully I’ll find out tomorrow! Baseball in an hour and I’m beat already. No, I did NOT stay up until 2:55 a.m. for 18 innings. I couldn’t believe it when I woke up at 1:00 and heard the TV. I listened before I grabbed my phone and realized the game was STILL going on and was in the 12th inning. YIKES! It’s quite the talk though!

So moving on to the calendars for today.

The People in your life prompt is Someone who had/has a memorable laugh… I’ve only known a few people whose laugh made me laugh but I do know a lot of people have told me I have a great laugh.

The Making the most of the rest of this year prompt is Ways you could bring the whole family together… remember that big party I spoke of a few nights ago? THAT! That is a way I could bring the whole family together. But another way is to just start a chat in our Fam Jam and get everyone riled up for baseball tonight!

Since November is just around the corner I’ll share what I’m thinking about for next month… one or both, I haven’t decided. I’ll decide when I get started but this way you can decide if you want to join in.

It’s Fixed!

So after a lot of back and forth including a call to Bell, from work no less, we are back up and running! Phew! So yesterday tech support said they’d get a new modem shipped and we’d have it today. That’s just ducky… except when I called shortly before 1:00 today I was told that those replacements have to be okayed by the department that doesn’t work Sundays so it was only okayed this morning so we’d have to wait until tomorrow. GRRRRR. So I asked if us picking up a new one at the Bell store is still an option and it was! So Larry took the bad one and flew into town with it and retrieved the new one. Now, this kind of happens in two parts when I got home. I go out to the garage which is where they put modems now (WEIRD, tell me about it) and it’s got a red okay on it. Look at the box, in the box and grab my phone to call tech support. (After I got off the phone I found the paperwork that had been placed away from the box) She walked me through it all… she needed one of the serial numbers on the box so she could associate it to my account and then, BINGO! It was associated with my account and the usual Call sign and password loaded to it. That meant all I had to do was turn on the TV again! YAY!

So our prompts for today are as follows…

People in your life is Someone who helped you improve even if it wasn’t easy… okay, is that oddest prompt you’ve ever seen? What have I improved at over my lifetime? Bowling, singing, my knowledge when it came to nursing. So my dad mostly for bowling, a couple of different vocal teachers for singing, and Phil and Mike for all that knowledge. My family for just being there and giving me that extra push.

Making the most of the rest of this year is Something courageous you want to do before next year… well, that’s different! And the first response that came into my head is to say to hell with everything and everyone, I want to open my own business! There, it’s out there and I said it and, yes, it takes WAY more courage (and faith) than what I can muster!

Anyway, we got baseball tonight and I’m pumped!
